Wasn't there some legal actions taken against Zales a few years ago after it was found they were misrepresenting diamonds? They might be one of the largest companies but that does not mean they can be trusted. They make profits by grossly inflating prices on less than "ideal" quality jewelry for the most part. They make a lot of money through the credit services they provide to customers. I would say stay away from Zales and mall chain stores. Most of the internet vendors that post here have great reputations and have ample return policies that allow you to get an independent appraisal before you commit your money to the purchase.
