I know blue nile has a rep for having higher priced diamonds, but after searching through their site it didn''t seem that bad. Any thoughts on this rock?

1.3 on the HCA

http://www.bluenile.com/round-diamond-2-carat-ideal-cut-i-color-vs2-clarity_LD01350746?__fun_frm=i&filter_id=0

It looks to be well cut, but I would prefer the diameter measurement to be tighter than 8.03 - 8.17

Thanks! Is that a sign that the diamond might not be as round as it could be?

Another one, mentioned in my other thread.

http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/I-SI1-Ideal-Cut-Round-Diamond-1125318.asp?b=16&a=12&c=77&cid=131

What am I missing here? Why is this one so cheap? If eye-clean it looks like a great deal to me.
To answer the query about the diameter, yes, generally it would be preferred if there was less variance between the two measurements.

The diamond above, I linked it to your other thread, it seems to be an excellently cut stone, I don't think we are missing anything, check it out with JA, also whether it is eyeclean.

Just a word of advice, if you''re at all interested in the James Allen stone, you should put it on hold as soon as possible. Lurkers often see these threads and end up buying stones when people post the links to them.

One other note, since size could possibly be an issue. JA''s upgrade policy is for double the original purchase price, so just a heads up. WF and GOG have extremely lenient policies.

Good point, just something to consider Doc in case your GF might want to go larger still in the future, but that diamond could well be an excellent choice !

Here are the terms for upgrade - http://www.jamesallen.com/about-us/upgrade-policies.asp

Are you sure you typed the PA correctly on the first one?

Anyway, I like everything about the second one so far. An idealscope pic would be nice. I'm assuming it's an AGS?

Also, can you post the rest of the info please?

I believe that''s the correct information. What makes you think it''s off?

I''ll try to get idealscopes.

I am having WhiteFlash bring the 2.7 stone in to examine it, take images, ideal scope, etc. If it checks out and is completely eye-clean chances are it will be mine. Any care to guess a price?

LOL! I don''t do price guessing, but this diamond looks very promising, I hope it passes muster!

Well, normally I would expect it to be at least around 40.4, usually more like 40.5-4.6. You just don't see them below 40, at least I haven't. But I suppose it could be right, in which case it's a big PASS. Not a good angle.

I'm really hoping the 2.7 is all we want it to be. As far as price, I'd hate to guess. But if you made me, somewhere between 18-21,000 range would not be out of the question. We aren't in the habit of pricing stones of this size much though.

Thanks for that insight into the pavilion angle. The 2.7 should be in tomorrow, and I should get a sarin report, idealscope, and 40x images. Let''s keep our fingers crossed!

PS; Good guess on the price!
