I'm exploring all my possibilities for stacking. I came about this unusual diamond baguette band in yellow and white gold. First, I like them both. I realize they might be unconventional, but they aren't terribly expensive. Still, I don't want them to detract from my ring, or to look like I'm wearing a 1980's set. I'm usually good at gauging ring looks on other people, but I get too biased with me. Lol.
It doesn’t fit with your ring at all and also blocks your ring. I don’t like it! And yes, the thicker swirly style with baguettes is pretty reminiscent of the 1980s. The ring was probably designed to appeal to people who liked rings from that period. (I have some myself but they definitely look exactly like they came from the 1980s.)
Maybe you only like it because you find it unique? You could easily get someone to design you a similar ring with smaller baguettes that fits perfectly with your ring. I would definitely go for white gold if you’re keeping the thickness of this band while designing something new.
If you want to stack with a yellow gold band, keep the band(s) very tiny and symmetrical so it doesn’t detract from your beautiful ring Currently the big band is making your ring look smaller because they are competing with size and the asymmetrical shape is too eye-catching.
I'd pass. Their is way too much going on with the swirly-twirly style of the baguette band up next to your solitaire. The prong set rounds in the shank of your solitaire, the round diamond solitaire, the swirling of the bands, the baguette shape of the band's stones, the white gold, the yellow gold...all of it is distracting with zero cohesion or flow.
I agree with the others that it distracts from your gorgeous ring. I personally would have a pave wedding band with diamonds no larger than 2pts so that your e-ring could be the center of attention.
This really screams 80‘s!
I have seen some beautiful swirly band at Mark Broumands IG! Go and have a look! He has nice pave swirly bands stacked with pave band engagement rings!
