hi everyone!

After dating my girlfriend for 6 years I will be proposing shortly. I have done lots of research and decided to go with a round cut diamond on a small pavé band. Very simple as she is also quite simple.

I recently visited a store a friend recommended. They have offered a 1.52 CT, round cut si1, G. I attach the Gia certificate and a few photos.

The price quoted was $14,700 Canadian ($11,600 USD) all in- meaning the band, the diamond and tax. Is this a fair price? I thought I'd check with experts first!

I am still considering getting a slightly larger diamond (1.7ct) but they have not yet located one for me to view.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!!97E47B0E-1F01-4BEB-A896-BA33CA26198F.jpegD7C498F2-60DC-4168-BB0A-CF0653654DC9.jpegF1B7F64F-27DE-4859-8C79-B73B0008DB6E.jpeg

Looks to be a good pick within ideal ranges; will dig around for price comps in a moment. Any chance they offer IdealScope imaging? How does it look to you, in person - Is it eye clean? Does the inclusions appear to impact the performance of the diamond at all (look cloudy, etc.)?

I could only find close H-color comps on WF, and not knowing what the breakdown in price is between the diamond & the setting, I would say the price looks about right/good. Others may chime in with additional feedback.:wavey:

Thanks for your response!

I am unfamiliar with Ideal scope imaging but will look into it.

As for the inclusions, neither I nor my sister could find them. My sister is a hawk at finding them so that is a good sign.

I thought the diamond looked quite "white" if that makes any sense. Seemed to pass the eye test but I am admittedly not an expert!

The breakdown is as follows:

Diamond : $13,500 CAD
Setting: $1,200 (I feel that this can be negotiated. 14ct gold with pave)

I’m sure that they could be open to negotiating on the stone as well.

There aren't any vendors in Canada, or very few that have ASET images or ideal scope images. I think you're getting a pretty fair price on that stone. Numbers are good, great depth so it will face up larger. Always a good thing. LOL Does this shop have other mounts? I think you can tighten up the price a bit. Perhaps they have some nice designer settings you can look through. If she loves that style, then, sounds like your done. LOL Very pretty fingers too.

I just wanted to add, make sure that when the shop orders or makes the shank to order at least F-G melee (tiny stones) that are VS & eye clean. I'm not sure if it's the pic but the sidetones do not shine as white as the G stone. ;-)

That seems like a really good price for shopping in a Canadian store. Would you like to share where you're shopping?

Beyond the price, I guess my real concern was the stone itself. There seem to be very few inclusions and it looks clean, but just wanted to get some other opinions. Consensus seems to be that the stone is also of good quality, but given my limited knowledge, I'm hoping to get some comments in that respect!

Your stone may very well be totally eye clean. If so, & seems like you're trying hard to find the inclusions but can't is saying the stone is a great SI-1. :-) I've had a few of those & my last one is 2.23 J, SI-1. Totally eye clean.
