I am a long time lurker and first time poster and I really need your help.

I have been lucky enough to find the woman of my dreams and I can't wait to propose to her.

Buying the right ring is a big investment and she deserves only the best. She is a very modest person and has no idea that I am going to propose and does not expect a huge engagement ring. She is not familiar with PS and has very limited knowledge when it comes to diamonds.

So, at this point, I have narrowed my search to 4 diamonds. Based on what I have learned here, they appear to be very similar in quality. The diamond I select will be set in a Cathedral setting with H&A pave stones in the F/G category.

Please tell me which diamond you believe to be the best quality for me to purchase.

these all look like great options. does one vendor have a setting you like better? I would probably pick the 1.318 G from WF because it is the least expensive option

They all are excellent stones. You can pick any one of them and you will be in good shape.

Thank you both for taking the time to respond to my request. I really appreciate it.

I'm still trying to narrow my selection and have two additional questions for the forum:

I have read throughout the forum that I can go one color off from the center stone to the pave diamonds. I may want to increase the size of the center stone by going with a H color while the paves are F/G. Do you think that this is a safe alternative? I would never want a difference in color to be noticeable.

Looking at the WF stones, I have always purchased H&A. Their Expert selction is still an ideal diamond and again I can afford a bigger diamond if I go with an Expert and not an H&A. Do you feel that the difference in cost is worth it to insist on an H&A?

Here are two larger diamonds that I am considering:

Thank you in advance for your continued help and opinions.

We usually say up to 2 color grades off is ok but that has to do more with bigger side stones not pave size stones. Pave size
stones will always look somewhat whiter do to the size. You should have no problem with an H center and F/G melee.

I would definitly skip the H&A to get to 1.5 at the cuts you are looking at.

I would have gone with the 1.318 G but if you are going up in size I would go with the 1.52 H.
