1-when watching a video, you rewind it to take a second look(or third or forth) at the jewelry or watches the actors are wearing.
2-You wait to read the end credits of a movie to see what jewelry companies were used in the film.
3-You introduce yourself to a person at a party or gathering to get a better look at their jewelry!
4-The first place you go to in a library or book store is the jewelry or gemstones sections.
5-Vacation shopping is centered around what jewelry stores may be in that area.
6-All your computer bookmarks are jewelry related.
7-you are embarrassed to show people your jewelry if its not perfectly clean!
8-You OFFER to clean peoples jewelry that isn't minty fresh and clean!
9- you start threads on Price scope about being jewelry obsessed!
I, of coarse, have never been guilty of any of this obsessive jewelry behavior(O.J.B.)!

You fall asleep thinking about the jewelry you saw during the day.
You advise people to close their eyes and think of diamonds on their wedding night.

mine is less jewellery obsessed and more gemstone/gemmology obsessed:

- when your husband stops asking whether the place you are going to on holiday has any gemstones (of course it does  )
- when you are looking at the snakes in the reptile section at London zoo and wonder if the iridescence on their scales is due to thin film interference or diffraction...

also guilty of:
- lecturing people on taking care of their coloured stones
- confiscating bling to clean it
- having 3 loupes in my favourite brand - Belomo - so that I always have one in every bag and another 3 in a brand I don't like so I can lend them to people.

It never occured to me to look at movie credits, otherwise I'm 8 for 9. It is totally true...I am so shy but have introduced myself to so many people to get a better look at their jewelry.

Here's mine:
  • You always carry a coinnoiser's diamond dazzle stick and use it after you wash your hands
Your purse/pockets are full of unset gems in cases so you can admire them whenever you want (I lost a fancy brown OEC in the depths of my car's parking brake and am trying to break this habit!)
You chose to move to a developing country because the idea of it's mineral wealth appealed to you

Great list of signs of our obsession - I have to admit I never thought of looking for jewelry credits either. I am so ashamed.

I would also like to add you know what stores or restaurants have great diamond / gemstone lighting. ETA: just last night the restaurant we were in had dim, subdued lighting and my diamond was like a sparkler. I keep missing parts of the conversation.

-You did a 360 and got a job in the jewellery industry so you can look at and talk about sparkly things all day long
-You know all the places to go out at night which have good jewellery lighting (Ahh Macy beat me to it! The casino is my fave to perve at please bling, since I don't gamble)

Your husband won't walk down the street with you because you stop & examine every piece in every jewelry store window. And comment on it all.

LOL!!! I thought i was the only one who lectures people on the care and feeding of their gems!!!!And I KIDD YOU NOT...I confiscated an employees jewelry once until she promised to take better care of it!!!she would clean it and then leave it on the counter top while helping customers.I was afraid someone would steal it.so i took it and hid all $30,000 dollars of it until she promised to take better care of it! She did.

I GET YOU!I carried my unset 2.54 round brilliant cut diamond around with me, in my pocket, for months until i found the right setting! It was fun to take it out and see what it looked like in different light sources! Once i took it to show a third grade class(i was dating their teacher)and they loved it!

You can't stop reading the threads and visiting the pictures over and over on PS.

You now have a jewelry bucket list

6 months ago you didn't know what RB, OEC, AVC etc meant. Now you use these unnerving acronyms all the time.

PS is your new Facebook. We need better profile pages!

:appl: Great thread!

My contribution:
You seriously consider packing your Jewel Jet when you leave to study for a month in another state.*
You carry a polishing cloth with you everywhere, and you use it on your friends' pieces as well as your own.
Unprompted, your friends sheepishly say "Oh, don't look at my ring, you're going to be so mad at me" when their diamonds are dirty.

*I didn't, but only because *somebody* convinced me that it wasn't necessary. I'm still considering asking that *somebody* to bring it with him when he comes to visit in the middle of the program.

Hahaha!! I have heard this on occasion, especially from my mom, who wears her poor rings for just about everything she does. I finally got her to take off her rings when she does things in her fish tank by telling her that the metal can hurt her fish and corals :Up_to_something:

These are all so awesome. I keep nodding my head and smiling when I read your comments.

I have brought people at work little jars of jewelry cleaner.

You ask people about their jewelry before you even introduce yourself.

You have several containers of jewels, and take them out regularly just to look at them...be it diamonds or gemstones.

You have more gemstones/jewels/pieces than you could ever wear regularly.

You regularly obsess over family heirlooms and fight for dibs on pieces when your grandmother gets new ones.

You are more interested in celebrities' engagement rings than how they got engaged.

You remember people by their rings.

You oogle over your friends' and family's new jewelry openly and even ask to try it on, ask about it, scrutinize it until they are visibly uncomfortable.....

You have folders of jewelry inspiration, attainable jewelry wishlists, favorite gemstone colors, and your favorite shapes on your computer and they're fuller than albums of you and your family/friends.

If you see something sparkly on the ground, you absolutely have to look and see what it is... even though 99% of the time it's glass... or a sticker.

You live on Pricescope.

  This is so me!!

When I was little, I used to stay at my grandma's house on her farm. I thought the most fun thing to do was to go out in the middle of the field, and dig for gold. Every time I hit a rock (and living in WNY there sure is a ton of them) I thought I'd struck it rich!!

Love this - sounds like the best wedding ever!! I'd have to insist on the wedding being at Tiffany's though! Your imagination is sensational!!

While when doing household chores, you take a break on the deck but grab your ering first and watch the sun play off of it!

Course you have to reclean it before you put it back in it's resting place - you know, in case it got dirty while out playing in the sunshine!

Great list Dragonfly!

MissGotRocks, I chuckled at yours - that is so me. On a lazy day around the house if I only put it on to run to the post office I still clean it. And you guessed it - the only reason I put it on to drive to the post office is because it's sunny out.

I definitely have more photos of gems and jewelry than anything else! Including wedding photos!

I also have vastly more rings than fingers.
