HI! I have a white gold setting (1 1/2 ct diamond) and want to educate myself before I go to the jeweler with my question...which is:
my ring does not look "white"...it looks more like the color of tarnished silver, is this what white gold looks like? I have never owned a piece of white gold, so am not sure if this is typical.
Is it possible to have white gold that looks like the ''whiteness'' of platinum? Is is worth having it re-plated if it already looks like this at 2 weeks? Actually, it never really looked "white" to begin with...
Should I save the time and disappointment and just have it reset in platinum?
Thank you!

i''m no expert but i''ve never heard of WG tarnishing. WG may gain a yellow hue to it which some people like, others don''t and just replate it. I don''t think you should see a color of metal change in only 2 weeks though, the yellowing usually take s a few months. some peoples body chemisty''s cause this to happen much faster so if it''s how you''re made that causing it you may have to go in for replating often or just get platinum.

I've never had white gold before now, but two weeks ago I bought a really cheap WG band. I was curious to see how my body reacts with it and how long it will last before it needs plating again. I have worn it non stop for the two weeks and apart from a couple of very small scratches on the underside, its still bright white. If yours looks like its tarnished already you should maybe get it checked out. If you are going to have to get it replated every few weeks it will work out better in the long run to get platinum.
