Hi Friends!

I have a yellow zircon assher (6.6mm x 6.6mm) on the way from Jeff White, and I'm super excited! It's not even here yet and I'm already thinking settings.

I'm thinking of a kite orientation for the setting. For those of you who have zircons, would you recommend bezel or no?

I've had DK reset my three stone assher diamond in bezels, and it really helped enhance the shape of the stone. However, would a bezel hinder light performance in a zircon?

Any advice is welcome!

An asscher zircon from Jeff White? :geek2: I assure you there's nothing that's going to hinder that performance. Bezels can sometimes darken certain materials, but that's not going to apply to a well-cut stone in a lighter tone like this one. We need a sneak peek!!

I would bezel-set everything if I can, and here is my Asscher cut blue Zircon from Jeff W set in kite orientation, and I love it.

Besides, Jeff's cutting is superb as always!

The Zircon is 9.25 x 9.25mm:

It is set in an air-gap halo with a Rose Gold bezel:

Finished ring:

Hope that helps.

Standard answer, as @Autumn in New England says, for a well-cut stone, a bezel won't affect the light performance. Your stone will almost certainly be well-cut.

Granted that bezels are my go-to, I've been very happy with my bezeled zircons:

This sapphire, though not an asscher, is an example of a kite setting:

This is absolutely stunning, my friend.

These are so lovely... I had a fabulous cushion yellow zircon ring back in the day, which I still regret selling.

Hopefully that link works. I think it's going to be amazing once I see it for real!

I've been a sucker for bezels ever since I had David Klass reset my three stone assher diamond ring. And I'm paranoid about prongs since I lost my (pretty small and very included) center diamond of my original wedding set.

But I've seen some amazing settings with prongs, several of which are yours @Autumn in New England !!

@Starstruck8 these are lovely! I normally use platinum, but I'll have to see mine in person--may need to shake things up with yellow gold.
