Yello Sapphire Engagement Ring or Stone Please Help

I am looking for a yellow sapphire engagement ring with a halo setting. She specifically wants a yellow sapphire not a yellow diamond. I have done some looking online but I have not seen a stone in person. I would like the stone to be a light yellow color, I am open to cushion or oval shapes in the 2.5-3.5 carat range. My max budget all in including setting would be $5500.

I am having a hard time finding any reviews on this site. Does anyone know if they are legit or have ordered from them?

I am also open to buying a stone and having it set myself. I have looked at a few online and keep coming back to this one from Gemfix



I am unsure of the cut on this one. How would this Portuguese cut look in a halo setting? Any recommendations for stone would be greatly appreciated. There are so many site that sell sapphire but it seems as though they only have a few yellow on each site. If I am just purchasing the stone I would not like to spend more than $2000-3000 so I still have money for the setting. I am looking to pop the question on July 4th.

Is it all right for the yellow sapphire to be heat only or must it be unheated? Treatment is not disclosed for the first sapphire.
Which shade of yellow are you looking for? Pure bright yellow, light yellow, a touch of green or something else?
5 cushions of 2.5 carats can have totally different measurements due to the cut. It is better to know the minimum face up size you prefer, such as 7 mm, 7.5 mm or 8 mm.

The Gemfix sapphire is extremely light in person. A Portuguese cut is good for a light coloured stone - it helps deepen the colour and sparkle more. Pictures are in the link below.

Thanks Chrono! That link was really helpful, I am looking for a light yellow stone, however that one seems to be extremely light and I am not sure I like the way the light hits it from the top.

We have no preference heated vs. unheated, I understand that unheated is more rare and therefore expensive however from what I understand heating is a rather common practice that does not harm the durability of the stone.

Size wise I would not want to go smaller that 7.5x6.5mm. The Gemfix stone was about the perfect size to me and it was 8.1x7.2.

Some things I do not like about James Allen is that they do not give the clarity of the stone and they have not third party certification on the James Allen certification which really means almost nothing to me. Does anyone have any experience with James Allen sapphires?

Treatment affects pricing, and helps me know where to look too. Heat treatment is a permanent and stable treatment.

Small window, rather flattish crown but the thing that bothers me is the bowtie. It tends to look more obvious in lighter coloured stones and stands out in this yellow sapphire. The clarity standard for coloured stones is to only be eye clean. This one looks very clean to my eye. I also agree than the JA certification holds little importance to me because it is not an independent assessment.
