I am considering buying a wx colored diamond that looks like a fancy yellow diamond...because of this it is much more affordable. Is this a bad idea ? I’m new to this so any input would be helpful.

Not at all! Lots of people do this because of the cost is much less than a fancy yellow. It helps a lot to set it in a yellow gold cup

I would ask for a picture of it out of the cup.

I second @KKJohnson ’s opinion. That diamond is gorgeous plug the price is great.

Point of order: more coloured than Z face up is Fancy Light Yellow - not Fancy Yellow

Lol yes that is the diamond. I have asked for a pic out of the cup. Any other suggestions? Has anyone purchased from this vendor?

I've purchased from parkfine before with no problems and I believe others from the forum have as well.

I purchased a bracelet from Alex. It was delivered quickly. And with an appraisal.

When you say more colored than z what do you mean?

I think he means that Z is lighter than the upper left corner (FL). Fancy Intense and Fancy Vivid (FI and FV) are the rarest.

The Wz is less yellow than Fancy Light Yellow. Fancy yellow is much yellower

Any thing else I should ask and/or be looking for?

I have purchased twice from Parks Fine Group before. Great diamonds and fast delivery. Absolutely no drama.

My opinion -
I wouldn’t buy it with the assumption ‘w/x looks like a fancy yellow’.
I would absolutely buy it because I loved the color and *bonus* it happens to look more saturated when set with a cup, knowing the saturation might well change in different viewing environments.

ETA
I’d also remind myself that the fluorescence probably will also play into how saturated it looks, at times.

Will faint fluorescence make it look more or less saturated?

Depends on color of fluorescence, I believe. Plus I just think “it varies”.

I have a fancy yellow diamond with faint fluorescence.
Report states it’s blue, however in looking at the stone under a cheap torch - it definitely doesn’t glow blue, it looks like glowing yellow.
I do notice the amount of yellow I see in natural lighting vs artificial does vary. But as a fancy yellow, it’s always unmistakably yellow.

Faint blue will make no difference.
D to Z is the 'colorless' range. Below Z id Fancy Light, not Fancy.

I purchased the stone and setting in my avatar from Alex. He’s honest, transparent & to the point. My favorite kind of trade professional. He’s ’to the point’ - not rude, just being who he is, don’t take it as a sign or something to worry about if you’re perhaps from a part of the country that is more about the motions, and less getting down to business.

You can’t go wrong with him. He’s eye for rocks is dialed in & he can make some amazing settings...check out his custom work on instagram.

I have bought from Alex twice without issue. He is honest, direct and provides good quality.

Bought from him twice with incredibly artistic custom made settings. Highly recommend.

Have you seen W-X diamonds in person in different lights? As above, W-X is not a fancy colour. It looks very yellow in the video but it won’t be all that yellow-looking at all times. It’s important to understand why it’s affordable and decide if you‘re happy with the colour.

Alex made me four rings already including my engagement ring. He’s the best!

The last alphabet colors look yellow to me and until the colour of the diamond matches YG, they all look lighter than gold & most change colour spectacular set with yellow gold backing. ('golden diamonds' - a shade I took my time to understand in terms of GIA grades, are deeper FI & FV & interesting exceptions)
