Would you have concerns with this diamond? (feathers)

I think my biggest concern is the feather that runs a short distance along the very right edge of the diamond. Any thoughts?

I wouldn't be worried about that feather being a durability issue. Its relatively small, and the vendor states that it doesn't break the surface. Normally feathers are only durability issues when they break the surface on both the crown and pavilion. Which is very rare in an SI1. I think you are looking at an excellent diamond. And by looking at the plot, I see little reason to worry.

I should have said the very left hand side of the diamond plot ... it appears to run along the edge. I asked the seller again about the diamond and they told me again that it did not break the surface anywhere. Its located under the upper girdle facet and they assure me there is nothing to worry about (but they also want to sell a diamond). Whiteflash has also stated that the plot only indicates the location and relative size, and that it can be no bigger than what''s shown on the plot, but only smaller. So let me ask the question again, any durability concern with the feather on the very left edge of the diamond?

Thanks for your help.

I'd take a pass on it.
Let someone else risk it.

This is not black and white, but is a shade of gray kind of thing.
Even a flawless diamond may chip one day.
A diamond heavily included with feathers (aka cracks) may never chip.
There are no guarantees, only comfort zones.

But let's face it, cracks (aka feathers) to not make a diamond stronger.

Personally I'd stay with VVS or VS or SIs without feathers.

in the right location they don''t make it weaker either.
diamonds will almost always beak first on the cleavage planes and a feather isn''t going to change that.

What do you mean cleavage planes? Did you guys look at the feather I was describing on the left side of the diamond? What do you think?

Cleavage planes are where the diamond crystal can be split easily, if you think of splitting a log which also has similar cleavage planes, it is the same type of principle. However for the ring wearer to actually break a diamond you need to hit it just right and with enough force to break it with a cleavage plane to the best of my knowledge, so it isn't something you need to be too concerned about, as always insurance against damage with any diamond is prudent. I wouldn't worry about the feather, if WF have told you it isn't an issue then it will not be but if you are uneasy then maybe a higher clarity grade or a diamond without a feather might be better for you. But even so any diamond can chip with bad luck.
