Hi Everyone,
If you find an OEC that you like, would you do it on layaway? Or would you just keep saving?

I am doing a layaway right now, but for a different stone, a heart shaped diamond for a pendant. I have been looking for a while, and this one really grabbed me and seems special to me! I found it before we were quite ready for a number of reasons, so decided to do the layaway.
If it’s “the one” or has a very rare quality (is a high color or has a specific facet pattern you’ve found hard to find or us just priced super well) then I’d put it on lay away.
You can also do some internet searches to see how rare something similar tends to be.
Are you worried something better will come along?
I'm not worried because usually when I find the one I like, that is IT.
There was an instance (a couple of months ago) that I like this ring very much (it was a very unique ring) and I was saving for it. All of a sudden it's gone. I asked the vendor and they said it is vintage so there is only one. Boy, do I learn my lesson. They offer to replicate it but they said it won't be an exact replica and that I may not like it. The ring has 2 oecs placed side by side. OEC is the last of my puzzle collection so I'd be done with that ring (cost less than $10K). The ring is gone now so I'm back on looking at oec.
I am collecting diamond shapes. I want CBI round, OMC, Octavia, Rose-cut and OEC. I have them all now, except OEC. I thought I finish my collection with a bang.3ct is kind of a bang no?

Y'know I'm going to want pics of that heart diamond
It really depends on how much you love this particular stone, how likely you are to find another that you love as much- or maybe even more!
Do you want to be done?

HG=holy grail
Oh I see.... hahahahahaha I’m not good at abbreviations.
It is certainly a HG OEC.
Late to this thread but what is the return policy if you purchase through lay away? I saw your other post about the M and the seller claims it looks like a J and to me that seems like a red flag and I would worry that a lay away might not allow me to return if the M was really an M and i was expecting a J.
