Would you consider this a ''true'' Hearts and Arrows stone?

I''ve seen varying definitions of H&A and I''m just curious how this particular diamond would be regarded. It''s obviously close but I''m wondering if there''s anything in the photos that would disqualify it.

Hi Smooth,

I almost dread answering a question like this as it may actually turn it to be more of a criticism of the photgraph than the actual diamond but I would not know unless I saw the stone personally. And this is also no kind of "attack" on the seller either. I'm just going to call it like I see it, so please ... noone take this the wrong way.

Arguements against the stone being a true H&A could be made because the pattern (particularly the "eye" or "circle" under the table is considerably off centered. I've modified the graphic showing in green lines at the 11
6.gif
0 position and the 4
6.gif
0 position how one is longer than the other demonstrating this point. This MAY indeed be due to the photograher and the quality of the photo being taken. I am only laying out a possibility based upon this picture.

The argument to be made from the hearts picture is that there is more of a cleft in the 4
6.gif
0 heart that the others do not display.

I'm really being hard on the pic but you are also talking to a person here who is very careful with his photography. See my graphic below. I try to be very careful about making sure everything is perfectly centered and aligned when I take the shot and I also squeeze the best resolution I can showing all the detail (everything in sharp focus).

I realize how hard it is to take pictures in the way that we do and not everyone uses the same equipment. I've spent lots of time and money to be able to get to the stage where we're at so the point I'm making is that the diamond may indeed not have any problems at all but it's possible.

Positive points though ...

All the hearts are the same size and are of very good consistency.
Same with the arrows.

The fact that is has THIS optical symmetry will definetely ensure GREAT fire in direct light and very good contrast brilliance/scintillation in ambient/diffuse light.

One of my anal retentive shots and by no means do I think I've "arrived" either in the photographic dept although my photography has become better over the years.

Dang Jonathan did you buy a hunting license ?

I think you just disquaified your own stone . You forget to white out the clefs on your pic

Rhino, no worries.

In fact, whether this stone has "perfect" H&A has little bearing on whether or not I'll buy it, as the light performance is excellent. And I do know that the stone was somewhat dirty when these photos were taken which could account for some of the spotting.
I was just curious because I'm not an expert, and thanks for your opinion!

No prob smooth. Just my .02c. Glad you saw my comments were in the spirit of helping and giving benefit of the doubt to the person who took the shots.

Haha... Brad! Na... no white out is ever used in our pics. The only time I'd ever do that is perhaps if a piece of dirt or dust flew onto the stone that didn't belong there. While I may make minor adjustments in contrast/brightness my pics are as you see em. No altering of the image is done to change the shape of the symmetry at all. WYSIWYG.

Peace,
Rhino

Obviously no white out was used cause all 8 clefs are there

It was a joke.

the arrow you drew pointing to one heart happens to be where a small inclusion is positioned in the H&A viewer. Other than that is a very bright eye clean SI 1

Wasn't pickin on ya bro. I didn't even know the original pics were yours. Arrows pic is centered much better and I understand 110% about inclusions showing up in the hearts pics. Oftentimes you can see it in VS2's down and sometimes they are reflectors too in the pavilion side pic.

Let me just say for the record that were I a consumer, you would be one of the only B&M stores I would consider in my shortlist of online vendors to purchase from.

Peace,
Rhino

Thanks Brad, I was going to post those. It looks like the pic quality is better on these new shots.

BTW, how does that diamond look to your eyes? I know Jan likes it.

The BScope ratings are some of the highest I've ever seen and 9.5 on the ISee2 is not too shabby either.

Ok ... now that we know all this we may as well know the proportions now too!

Over a 9 on the Isee2 and you're sitting pretty smooth. It's one of my favorite new instruments too. I was speaking with some HoF distributors who have the machine and they were telling me many of the HoF stones were scoring in the 7.x - 8.x range.

Peace,
Rhino

Thanks Jonathan that was mighty kind of you

Same here.

Hi Smooth just took another look at it, looks like you`ll be a hero

Heya Jonathan. Hope your vacation was good...will you be posting ISee2 numbers on your diamond reports? Just curious.

Piqued your curiosity, Rhino?

Here are the specs from the AGS cert:
.783 ct I SI1
5.94-5.96 x 3.66mm
AGS000
Table: 55%
Crown Angle: 34.4°
Crown Height: 15.3%
Pavilion Angle: 41°
Pavilion Depth: 43.1%
Total Depth: 61.6%
Culet: pointed
Girdle: faceted 1.2-1.9%
Flourescence: negligible

The Sarin from DBOF confirmed the AGS measurements well within tolerances.
It's got quite a few inclusions but I've been assured it's eye-clean and I will soon be taking a look at it myself to be sure.

I was originally looking to go with something a little bit bigger and maybe an H color, but this is one of the things that changed my mind (I cropped the pic).
