a diamond with a table of 60% and depth of 60.4%? It is GIA graded, triple excellent, VS2, but scoring 3.5 on HCA.

Not me. I wouldn't have an issue with the depth but I would not be happy with a 60% table, personally.

A 60/60 is a more "traditional" ideal cut, but isn't the best performer compared to better proportion cuts. It's a Cadillac vs. Ferrari. Not horrible. Just not high performance specs.

You are playing in one of the world's biggest eye candy stores when you play on Pricescope. It is up to you to choose your favorite color and flavor of eye candy.

Many people like the 60/60 until they see a true ideal cut AGS0 cut grade, then they end up seeking a better eye candy.

Perhaps you might think about spending some time looking at various cuts in the jewelry stores near you.

Find someone near you who deals in AGS0 cut diamonds and see them side by side with other diamonds. It will take but a few seconds to see which YOUR eyes like better.

Wink

P. S. In another conversation yesterday someone paraphrased Forrest Gump, I loved it.

He said "Life is like a GIA Excellent, you never know what you are going to get."

He was so right. Some of them are HOT!!!!! but so many of them are NOT!!!!!

I like 60/60 stones. I wouldn't buy one without a passing idealscope image though. And a 3.5 isn't likely to have one (that's not saying it won't though, just that it isn't likely). But a 60/60 WITH a good idealscope image? Sure.

But then, I've seen and owned AGS0's and seen one of them side by side with a (good) 60/60 stone, so I can make that statement from my personal observations.

That was me, Wink. Glad I made you laugh.
It's so true, though.

I think that needs to be AGSL's new t-shirt for use at conferences, etc.

My sister's fiancé bought her a 60/60 diamond from Cartier and while I haven't run it's numbers through the hca tool nor compared it side by side with other diamonds cut in other flavours, I have to say that from across the dinner table it looks a beautiful, spready, responsive diamond.

If your prospective diamond performs badly in the hca though I might be inclined to leave it.

Thanks, everyone, for your responses. I will pass on it because I'm thinking this purchase should be my last upgrade (famous last words, right???)
