Does moissanite appear as cheap / knock-off? Can anyone share their opinion?

I can't speak to how this looks IRL, but agree with the above comments:
-Not a (lab) diamond
-Plated metal on a ring with a warning that sweat will degrade the finish
-Potential for melee to fall out is higher in an inexpensive setting

If you are looking to save money, buy a preloved lab diamond in solid gold or platinum, or a moissanite in the same or silver.

What is your budget and do you want moissanite or a lab diamond? Moissanite has a different look than diamond; some people like that, some people don’t. The ring you posted is moissanite and not a lab diamond.

It's fantastic that you're considering a lab diamond ring for your wife. In my opinion, moissanite is a brilliant choice and shouldn't be viewed as a "cheap" alternative at all.

do you know if your wife as an opinion on lab diamonds or on Moissanites ?

as has been said they are definatly not the same thing

there are some lovely moissanite rings to be found on the fingers of PS in the fashion jewlery forum
i would think a good quality setting is important to avoid the cheap look you are trying to avoid

but a diamond is a diamond, no matter if it is earth mined or grown in a lab
however people do very and your wife may or may not embrace the lab grown gems

I've got a moissanite ring, and honestly, it looks stunning! I've never had anyone think it's a knock-off. People usually just admire the sparkle without diving into the details. Plus, if it's well-crafted and you like it, that's what matters most.
