Would this necklace offend you?

These are evil-eye charms in my (European) book.

Might have wished for a travel-sized perfume bottle made of a somewhat larger caliber - where materials get fancy & ownership not trivial (travel flagon - airport customs ... kidding !)

I have not thought of the situation you mention, @sonnyjane ... I wouldn't want to remind anyone I meet of anything grim ...

It wouldn't offend me but I would assume you were into guns.

Thank you to everyone who responded, I appreciate it! I'm going to continue thinking about it, and see how I feel. But it's good to know that most people wouldn't feel offended, although might think I love guns.

So let me ask; is liking guns a bad thing?

Have you seen these? Made from ammunition. I first saw it on Shark Tank. I think they are doing very well. Doesn't appeal to me but many people like it.

Hey Missy thanks for this! I love these kinds of stories and entrepreneurship. We have three locals guys who were Army EOD (explosive ordinance disposal) in Iraq together and they opened a microbrewery called the Mad Bomber. People love it and they are doing well.

I don't know. My mother used to say that it was silly not to let little boys play with toy guns because if they didn't have toy guns they would only use other things and make "guns" out of them, using their fingers if sticks were unavailable. My brother had an extensive toy rifle collection. (And my parents became Quakers shortly after that!)

I do realize that we were living in the United States and that not every country exposes children to guns as much as the the US does. Therefore I am not saying little boys everywhere on earth have an affinity for playing with guns. But I believe most American boys do. My brother watched cowboys and westerns on television; therefore he favored long guns.

We weren't allowed to play with guns...like ever. I have 3 brothers and that was just a no. My parents were very strict about the fact that they were not playthings and my mother sent many a toy gun back to family...that included nerf!!!

I shot my first as a preteen because my grandfather said it was time for me to learn and he needed another hunting buddy. I was good with that, though I could not kill bambi the first time out. (I cried and he made me go sit in the truck until he was done...lol)

That said, I enjoy my guns, and I have what I consider a healthy respect for them as tools. (I wish I had more time for target practice these days.) I personally would not wear bullet shaped jewelry. I'd wear the penis though:lol-2: (yeah there's a story that goes along with that...lol)

My father was a hunter in his early years and on the ranch it was necessary to have firearms for herd protection. I was taught from very small to respect firearms and was able to shoot at a young age so there was never a fear of them. Kids who grew up watching westerns had the attraction to play naturally I would imagine and probably had the little sheriff set if their parents let them. Because we had real guns and my parents were sticklers on safety there was no mystique or sense of the forbidden in our house. I think that causes more problems than it solves in households with guns.

So let me ask; is liking guns a bad thing?

No, but I definitely advocate for more rules and regulations about who can buy guns, and what kinds of guns can be easily purchased. I have absolutely no problem with people who enjoy shooting guns responsibly (e.g. shooting ranges, etc). But that just isn't who I am, so I don't want people to make incorrect assumptions about my beliefs.

I personally am not offended by what others chose to wear and adorn themselves with so this goes beyond the specific bullet question. It's your decision and style so who cares what I think! However, I think one would have to be mindful of the event that you are attending. I feel like the world has become more "sensitive" to terms and images now.

The first three are beautiful and I would never even think they were made from bullets.

I would never wear the bullet shaped pendant. Would I be offended? I'm not sure that's the right work. Startled, surprised, puzzled are more like it. It's just not something I would think so see as jewelry. But, it's probably a similar response to bug, spider and snake jewelry for me. Thinks I don't like.

Unless I saw the wearing carrying a gun, as well, it wouldn't be a big concern, though.

I think they are very pretty and I would never guess they were made from bullets. However, if I knew that, I could not wear them. I have zero interest in guns and would not want to wear anything associated with them. However, that is just me and I wouldn't be offended if you wore one. I would, however, assume you were a gun enthusiast if you wanted a piece of jewelry made from a bullet. That may or may not mean anything to you or bother you one way or another.
