Would this be an easy fix?

Hi all,
First time poster here. I recently picked up my ring in its new setting and I am I indecisive on my feelings about it. It is a halo with diamonds around the top and the side and it has almost like a bezel dividing them.. I will try to figure out how to post a picture. I feel that in certain lights or from certain angles it looks a little funny and almost distracts from the beauty of the center stone?

We had to go back and forth for awhile to get the jeweler to honor the credit from my original setting towards the new one (long story) and it is not a custom design so there isn’t much of a recourse with them. I was wondering if it would be possible for someone who does custom work to simply remove that bezel without having to rework the entire thing. The halo diamonds do have prongs holding them in. It was quite an expensive and stressful upgrade process so I am sad to be feeling this way and hoping there might be a simple fix... Did you choose this style? Is it not what you visualized and agreed on? A bezeled halo can be beautiful, but it sounds like you don’t like it. Do you feel it was not executed right? If you indicated you wanted a halo without a bezel, this jeweler should make it right.

Omg, I think it’s gorgeous! As I was reading your post, I was imagining a horrible mounting and when I saw the pictures I was like, “Oh, wow, that’s gorgeous!” I’m sorry this process has been a stressful situation, and it sounds like there’s been a few rounds of it, based on the additional details you did t even want to discuss. I’ve had stressful, anxiety-ridden jeweler situations myself so I can empathize.
But do know that it is really pretty. I think you may just have a bad taste for this whole chapter right now and it’s preventing you from being able to see your ring in a different light.

Did you pick this setting out? If so do you have photos of it? I’m curious if what you picked had the thin bezel

I think its gorgeous!!! I love the bezel and think it adds a unique look to your ring which looks perfect on your hand! But it is your ring and if you aren't happy, then you should investigate changing the setting. Not sure about recourse with your local jeweler--personally, since it is your ER, I would cut my losses with them and move toward happiness--but that is just me. You could start by emailing some of the shops that members here use and see what the price would be for changing your setting. David Klass has done resets for me and is great to work with via email.

Someone may* be able to soften it by polishing down a bit. Would need to talk to a good bench. Another option is to possibly milgrain it which
will give it a softened look since it will no longer be a solid line.

I would start by asking the jeweler you are working with.

^^ This is great advice if it can’t be polished/softened.
It is a beautiful ring!

This and another vote for milgrain, it will be the easiest to accomplish and it’s very pretty/delicate in person. Here is an example:

Thanks everyone for your replies! I did pick it from the selection of mountings they carried in the store (it was not custom or something I had created) so it’s definitely on me this time around. I don’t remember noticing the bezel as much when I picked it. But even now it only jumps out at me in certain lights and angles ... also agreeing with a previous poster on the fact that the stressful situation of the remount is most likely clouding my view as well..

I may eventually try to talk to a local shop that does custom work. My fiancé has been very supportive this far but I have a feeling he will be pretty frustrated with me if I say I’m not happy with this option either ... I wanted to get an idea of the possibilities / potential cost before going down that road

@missindecision , don’t worry! We have all questioned our choices and settings. The important thing is that you are happy with a ring you wear everyday. I think it is smart to take some time and live with the ring. It really is very, very beautiful!
