I''m looking for a princess cut diamond for an engagement ring and have been doing a lot of research. I''ve been looking a lot at bluenile and see some nice things on there, but I''m hesitant to buy from an online dealer without seing the diamond. Does anyone have any experience with them or abazias? I found this diamond at abazias which sounds very nice but I''d like to hear some thoughts from the experts out there. I''m looking to spend between 3k-4k for the diamond and probably another 1.5k-2k on a platinum band with sidestones. I''m trying to buy about a carat and would like the most size/sparkle for the money. Your thoughts? Thank you in advance.

BN doesn't provide you with Ideal Scope and other pictures esential to buying online. I would look at WhiteFlash or GoodOld Gold.

ETA: I would not buy that stone. Table is too big. Good is not good enough with symmetry. And unless the vendor has the diamond in house he can't tell you if that SI is going to be eye clean... or if the inclusions are visible.

Welcome!

I am not a princess expert, but I do know to stay away from extra thin girdles on them, due to risk of chipping. I cannot speak about Abazias, but our purchase with Blue Nile went superbly. The only draw back is that BN (and I think Abazias too) do not give you IS pics prior to purchase.

ETA - I see Gypsy was faster on the draw than I was! I will let you know that for out of house stones for BN, they will contact the vendor for you with querys about eye cleanliness, fluoro effects, etc. THey will place the stone on hold for you (no cost) while they find out the answers to your questions.

You could get a MUCH nicer diamond for your budget if you stay just under a carat. a 1 carat AGS ) runs a about 4-5 K. Which you could afford if you spent less on a setting. Platinum is expensive right now... so WG would be a good cost saving alternative. You don''t want to sacrifice on the diamond.

WF has a nice one.. but its 1.03ish and 5,560 dollars. (5% off with wire transfer)

Exceldiamonds is a good retailer for AGS0 princesses as well... here are a few under a carat I would call and ask about. You need pictures of the actual stone, and an IS (they will provide both upon request).
