Hello

Eventhough I have been shopping diligently for an AGS ideal VS2 G or H, I can''t help keep considering this GOG August Vintage I, SI1 with strong fluorescence. Can I get your opinion on this stone and the location of the inclusions that were described to me as a "dusty appearance", would the "dust" interrupt the light/brightness? Will the strong fluorescence detract/impact the colorful fire that these cuts can have by making it blue somehow (duh?).... sorry I have to ask even if it sounds stupid.

She loves the cut of the August Vintage because of the fire that is typical to these cuts so I wouldn''t want to lose that but doesn''t like anything lower than an H usually as she can see a tint.... my thinking is that maybe it will appear more colorless because of the fluor and could that even be a good thing..... I believe that I read that somewhere but I think that I also read about fluorescence causing a milky look which is a definite no no for her? Can you please share any comments on strong fluor in this diamond to help me decide whether it might work? Many reports are found at the link. Thanks for getting me one step closer to a decision... :)

Fluorescence causing a milky oily appearance is very rare.

I'd be astonished if GOG sold such a stone but you could ask them to check specifically for this on this stone.
Personally, I would trust this vendor to answer this question honestly.
1. I've dealt with them and they have been very honest.
2. They know if something they say does not hold out customers can come her on PS and complain in public.
3. They have a great 30-day money back (less shipping) guarantee.

When viewed in light that has a ultraviolet component like sunlight or some bulbs, the strong blue fluor can counteract some of the yellowness of the I-graded stone.
Making the stone appear more colorless is considered a good thing.

problem with fluor is that it only works when there is fluor, not all lighting conditions has these.

Yes. I think you should consider ther flor a nice addition, but it will *not* change the color of your diamond,

What size is the stone? Have you looked at diamonds in person? What is your color preference when you see stones in person?

I love those cuts and they are unique. What about having the AV stone sent to you loose so you can check it out before setting it?

I would not buy my wife a non fluoro diamond.
But I would check to make sure the fluoro is not a problem (less than 25% chance with a SB)
Ask Rhino - he has a thick skin, but respects Pricescope consumers like you immensley!
(sorry Mate)

Thank you all for your expert 2 cents. I feel better. I''ve asked GOG for a side by side video to compare 2 different diamonds so that I can see the color of the I against a neutral background and any effect of the fluor on the fire. I hadn''t heard back from them so I asked them again this morning- I''m sure that they are just swamped selling these beautiful unique diamonds. I hope to hear back this morning and will fill you in. I might have to ask you something about the video but hopefully it is straight forward and there is a hands-down winner... I''m starting to get excited. Thanks again.

*groan...*

Ditto asking Rhino/ Jon about the fluorescence, but I doubt you will have an issue with a hand selected stone from a vendor that screens his diamonds so carefully.

I asked my girlfriend to call GOG to request a video of the diamond with fluoresence and she spoke with Jonathan- I think she has made up her mind on who I am going to deal with when purchasing her diamond. She couldn''t say enough about how accommodating he was. He is going to set up a video to compare a D G and the I with fluoresence (that we have on hold)- all in the August Vintage Style. I''m excited to see it and even more excited for the process to be over so that I can get back to only having one full time job. This forum is addicting- I think that I''m just paranoid about making a mistake. I have never put so much time into anything, even house or car shopping. I just want it to be perfect for her.

Hehehe!!

That sounds fine, also there is no way you are making a mistake, you have done a great job and are in extremely safe hands with Jon. The ring will be a dream come true for her and there is no way it won't be perfect!!!!!

I can promise you this, in years to come you will look back and know the time you spent researching this purchase was really worthwhile each time you look at your beautiful stone.

enjoy. :P

Why do you think so many of us stick around? :P
