Here''s my earlier post if you need an update: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/cz-removal-from-a-bezel-setting.127563/
Ring: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/engaged-my-ritani-bella-vita.120533/ (from Chemgeek''s photos)

My fiance bought a ring from BBB and the store is going out of business. We were given permission to buy the ring, leave my diamond there and wait to see if the jeweler could swap diamonds successfully. We are only able to return the ring if we don''t like the jeweler''s price quote or what if he doesn''t think he can make the ring look nice. There''s a cz in the center and we have a diamond that is slightly smaller than the original cz so there will be an airline if I replace it with my diamond. I did a search about airlines and some of them look really nice while others look terrible. I don''t know enough about rings to judge if this ring would nice with the airline. I really want to take it to another jeweler to see what this ring would look like with an airline but I can''t take it away from BBB unless I make the decision to keep the ring.

Will the jeweler show YOU what it would look like with your diamond set in it?

Personally I think it is a beautiful setting and I wouldn''t mind a small airline, I don''t think it would ruin the look at all, especially if you LOVE the setting. However, it is your ring and you have to be happy with the final result. See if they will let you look at it with your diamond (I know they can''t ''set'' it, but perhaps they can remove the cz and rest your diamond in the setting to give you a decent visual?)...Do you know how many millimeters your diamond is, compared to the opening in the setting? It may not be much or an airline at all and may look just fine. good luck!

The jeweler at BBB wants to charge $300. I don''t want to pay that much for something that may not work out. Everybody here says that''s too much to pay.

The ask him to tell you the exact millimeter measurement of your diamond and the exact millimeter of the opening of the setting...then you can tell how much of an airline would show. If it's less than a millimeter difference between the opening and the diamond, then I don't think the airline would be that big. But maybe one of the professionals could give you a better idea of how it would look!

Ya, bring it to other jewelers for quotes.

LOL! I am such a twit! I was sitting here wondering what United Airlines would do with a ring . . . My bad!

I don''t think you''d have much of an airline, the the pic almost looks like the diamond in it is hanging over the halo.

I also think $300 is way too much. I had a local jeweler remove a 1ct diamond and set a different stone in a platinum ring plus do some minor prong work and they charged $60.
