The other day I brought my loose diamond in to get it set at a local jewelers. Because I wanted to make sure I kept it I peeled of the stats sticker that was on the paper that contained my diamond, you know, that paper with the blue plastic inside that they put loose diamonds in. Well underneath the sticker the words "Worked for Ex/Ex" were printed on the paper. I'm assuming this is in reference to the Polish and Symmetry, which are both rated as excellent on the GIA cert, but what does it mean to be worked for Ex Ex? I'm a little suspicious of it, mostly because it was covered up.
Does this mean that in cutting the diamond that this was the most important thing they were trying to achieve?
Or does it mean that the polish and symmetry were loosely graded?
Anybody have any insights?
