Hi,

I am new to this forum (have been lurking for several months) and find that everyone is so helpful and kind to newbies.

My question is this....I want to buy a diamond ring for my right hand, but I am not sure if this is common. Do women buy three stone settings for themselves? What about solitaires?

Thanks for any info/opinions on this, after reading all the posts, I really want a ring for myself!

Well, you a Debeer's Marketing dream come true!

That said, go for what you want & looks good on your hand.

Hi Lucky. The right hand diamond ring for women is the "new thing". DeBeer's has mounted a big advertising campaign pushing this, so you'll be seeing it more & more as it catches on.

Sure they do. Many women now have the money to purchase diamond rings for themselves. If you can afford it, you deserve to buy one!

Excuse me, but we women have been wearing right hand rings for a VERY long time. It is Debeers who have jumped on OUR bandwagon.

I have a solitaire and a three stone ring. I usually wear the solitiare + wedding band on the left hand and the 3 stone ring on the right (third finger), but sometimes I swap them around. It gives me two different looks.

When I'm not in the mood for diamonds, I wear coloured gem stones in their place. I always ensure that I have a matching pair of rings (two sapphirre rings, two ruby rings etc.) so that I can wear one on my right hand and one on the left (in place of my e-ring) + a toning wedding band (yellow gold or white gold).

I take my jewellery wadrobe very seriously

I have a diamond ring that I wear on my right hand as well long before the ads. I don't know about in the UK; but, these "right hand" rings are now pushed in women's faces. Just like Past, Present & Future was/is.

They make it seem that if you *don't* have one, you are somewhat less of a women.

I too have been buying my own jewelry for a while now.

I personally don't care for the styles of the new "Right Hand Rings" and like wearing 3-stone rings on my right hand.

There was an article published recently on this topic, and I can't for the life of me remember the magazine...in any event, I do seem to recall that the article was touting the right-hand ring as a burgeoning trend, and mentioned the names of several female celebrities who wear diamond rings on their right hands...one of them was Britney Spears.

I have a lovely diamond ring that was left to me by my Nana when she passed away. I would love to wear it on my right hand, but it just feels weird. I don't know if it's because I'm left-handed, or just deeply strange.

Thanks for the input, everyone! I've been wanting a right hand ring for some time, before DeBeers launched their campaign. I agree with DiamondLover23, I don't care for the right hand rings that DeBeers is promoting right now, so I'm off to look for the perfect three stone ring...

Most women would have a long wait if they waited for their man to get them a second diamond ring. Most guys would rather buy her a nice big TV so he can play with the channel changer. My recommendation is for you to find what you want in a right hand ring, buy it and enjoy it!
He may not even notice.

dimonbob,

What's wrong with big screen TV with all the bells and whistles for the wife???? The couple that watches TV together grows together!

Please don't knock the man for not noticing another diamond ring on the wife's right hand. Of course he'll notice and will blow his top. For that hunk of change, he could have gotten himself a real nice big TV.
