With an ideal-scope image, I don''t want to see all red and black right?

Something like what I have included here would be better, correct?

What do you think of this image?

sure.. a little white in the right places adds nice contrast.

that''s a very nice image indeed.

You have asked 2 questions:

1) Do you actually want to see all red/pink and black in an idealscope image.

2) What do we think of the idealscope image of a ACA diamond.

I can definitely answer the first question as "absolutely perhaps:" Yes I am being vague...

When it comes to "superideal" cut diamonds there are different philosophies; and different reults by the different companies. Do you like more "Fire" or more "Brilliance" (see the advanced tutorial). For example - and 8* would in fact show almost all red/pink and black and have - I believe - great fire. Some like how it looks - others do not.

Others such as ACA, Infinity, etc believe that the better looking diamond is not one with absolute perfect light return, but with more Brilliance - and you get idealscope images like the one you have.

For an Infinity check out Wink Jones''s site: www.winkjones.com/specials/diamonds.php

Thus, you have a great idealscope image - of a diamond that will show - I believe - great brillance.

Is it the best. Depends on what you are looking for. Will most people be able to tell it from an 8*. Not unless you put them side by side.

looks great....that is exactly what i''d want to see in an IS.

Looks awesome to me!!

This may sound silly - but I just thought I''d throw in the fact that if you have a home IS, your diamond will look PINK and black, not the blood red you see in that image!

I noticed that myself, too! Just bought the beginner idealscope and my stone has a pink tone, not dark red as in the photos.

Pink = red - it is partly camera effects etc.
Just discriminate between very pale white and medium pink to dark pink.
mid pink = about 25 - 35% leakage and is not a train smash.

Lynn,

I'm bilingual and I'll try to translate into American English for you.

Dude,
Pink is like a totally awesome color for sure, but blood red in the photos can rip some gnarly pixels when you take a digicam to a totally tubular diamond. Light pink bites and black and white bring out the colors of the rainbow.

Fer sure.

Oh My Gawd.
Awesommmme.
Like, gag me with a spoon.
Fer sure.

Toooootally!

Dude

Lynn is a dudette
Garry''s version is more understandable.

Lynn is being deeply racist and offensive (carry over from another thread) and I will not play in her sand pit neva agin (that is an Aussie Aboriginal accent - or even South African ''niva agin'' - Lynn).

What we think = 50% leakage is actually about 1/2 as bad as it looks. Conversley, 50% leakage looks like almost pure white - the ideal-scope - pink or red - is a very harsh instrument.

This chart makes it really confusing - but more important
