@missy sorry, I'm not trying to suggest you can contract the virus from an mRNA vaccine. And my dad is near retirement age. He was not administered the oral vaccine for polio. He did not grow up in the US and got the Russian version of the vaccine that used weakened live polio virus (can't remember whether that's be the Sabin or Salk version), but I'd think it was the first version of polio vaccine available by injection.

Medicine has advanced a long way since then, and I wouldn't hesitate to take an mRNA vaccine, I just wanted to say there's no such thing as a 100% guaranteed solution to disease.

Agreed. There is no 100%.
We do the best we can under the circumstances and with the available resources. Perfect is the enemy of good enough.

There's no such thing as 100% certainty @kenny, especially when it comes to medicine. A lot of unintended consequences can happen. My dad contacted polio from the polio vaccine itself, for instance. That's not something that's supposed to happen... But it happened. Other unexpected things happen too. These vaccines have been approved for emergency authorized use, not unconditional general use. We don't know long term effects.

I will get the vaccine. Because I don't have time to wait to start a family, because I want to have a baby before my biological clock has gotten to a certain point. After the vaccine, I will resume life as before... At least mentally. There's no way to control risk to zero, as so much of that risk is not up to me, but to others. Of course I will still follow protocol and wear masks, wash hands after vaccination, but I'm going to have my birth control taken out and try to plan out the rest of my life without wasting my time on fear.

I never said there was 100% certainty.
Please read the phrasing in DF's post, to which I was responding.

Sheesh!
