i, like sabine, am going to go with the river rock idea (98% sure). i love it because it is different, and i already use river rocks as decor in my house, so it will be great to look at those and think of the wedding and read the signatures and thoughts of our guests.

I put this in another post as well....

We''re doing a photo guestbook. I am having a woman on Etsy make one for me with special photo pages and a place to write in them. My stepbrother is bringing his portable photo printer and taking digital camera photos then printing them out and affixing them in the book for me. It should be nice. The book maker is using the same paper as my wedding invitations so it wil match.

Anyways really wanted a photobooth but they were too pricey to rent.

I wanted to add though that I in the latest issue of In Style Weddings one of the suggestions (50 ways to personalize your wedding by famous wedding planners) was to have people sign scraps of fabric and then have a cool quilt made out of it. I thouht this was a neat idea since my grandma is really into quiliting and made me something cool like that once with photos.

Violet, I am doing the exact same thing, down to having the book made by a woman on etsy!! hahaha how funny.

I''m thinking of making a big blurb photobook with different pictures of us on one side of each page and the other side will have lines for the guests to sign. I think this would be really neat for us to have, but I''m wondering if that would seem a little self-involved to guests? Like ''please sign our guest book which is filled with pictures of us that of course you want to look at''?

We also wanted to do a photobooth but don''t have the budget, so my sister is going to take digital pics of all the guests holding a sign that says ''Congrats X and Y'' and then I will make these into a photobook later. I stole that idea from the offbeat bride site.
Lurking - you should definitely do it. I just went to a wedding where the couple set up a photo album on a table and asked the guests to sign that. The photos were from an engagement photo session they had by the beach. The photos were beautiful, so cute, and everyone loved looking through it. There was a line! She had them in an archival photo album with black pages, and used photo corners to hold the photos on each page. She provided 2 metallic pens, and people wrote on the facing pages, as well as around the photos. Just be careful that your pens dry quickly so they don''t mar your photos when someone flips the page.
Thanks CrownJewel!! I was needing just a little bit of assurance. And I''m so glad people liked it - I love making photobooks so this will be a really fun project for me.

I love that idea and the etsy seller''s books! I have a logistics question...when/where are you having your stepbrother take the photos and print them?

During the cocktail hour after the ceremony we'll have a table set up with where people can go by and sign the guest book and get their photo taken. My stepbrother will take four photos, then print them on to one full size sheet of photo paper, cut them into four and affix them to the book probably with the help of his girlfriend. He said as long as he can keep track of who's photo goes with who signed the book then the photos and the signing don't have to be completed on the page all at the same time. I'm going to provide him with some sticky squares or adhesive photo corners to put the photos in the book with. He's bringing his fancy slr camera or something like it and a portable photo printer.

Hopefully this plan works! As a backup we're bringing a polaroid as well just in case something glitches with the other camera/printer.

We are doing the polaroids. We will assign a couple cousins to man the guest book table and get people to come get their photo taken, which they will then glue into the book. There will be space next to each photo for a message from the guests, and we will have pens there.

Also thinking about asking the cousins to take photos of people as they arrive and then have them find their photo in the book, but i think it might work better to have people just have their photo taken right before they write their message so they don''t forget to come back and sign.

I''m hoping the timing will work out so that as people come inside from the cocktail hour/receiving line, a bunch of people will sign it and the rest of them will do it throughout the rest of the night.

We''re having a traditional guest book. I had one at my Bat Mitzvah fifteen years ago and I still love looking through it and reading the notes everyone left for me. I can''t wait to see what everyone writes in this one!

Love all of your creative ideas! If I wasn''t so over planning this wedding, I might try to steal one!

I wasnt planning on it, however after surfing through the clearance section at Hallmark, found a beautiful leather guestbook for $13.00 so were doing one now
