Will Tiffany & Co re-laser engrave/grade a diamond

I have a relatively large stone which needs repolishing due to abrasion. The laser serial number will go during the process - I know this for sure. I'm due to take it to Tiffany this week but wanted to get a feel for what they might say. Has anyone needed to get a stone repolished at Tiffany & Co. If so what have they done about the inscription/regrading.

Are you worried they won't want to be involved if you are not the original owner? But if you are, why would they refuse?

I imagine they will, but make sure that THEY are the ones doing the work and make sure to ask up front. I suspect it's not part of their normal repair service.

I have heard that they just take care of the polishing but they don't regrade or re-laser which I think is odd. I wondered if anyone else had been through this process.

They're distinctly crabby about anything having to do with the secondary market but for people who bought directly from them, they are a very agreeable company to work with. Did you? Have you asked them directly? They sometimes have a fee when customers ask for unusual things but they're eager to please.
