After researching, I maybe should have went to an F color instead of a G. I wanted my diamond to be on the clearer side. Some say you shouldn’t be able to tell the color differences unless compared to others, some say you can just tell to the naked eye sometimes if you are color sensitive. I’ve been researching diamonds for months now so I feel like I’d be able to somewhat tell some color in my G. But with these specs, would changing it to an F diamond really make that much of a difference and worth the trouble of switching it out AND spending a little more money? I know sometimes a triple excellent isn’t enough too but I did make sure that the crown, table, depth, and pavilion angles were all in a great range for an ‘ideal’ cut diamond. What do you think?
GIA round
0.72 carat
IF, G color
Excellent cut
Excellent polish
Excellent symmetry

In my experience, I see NO color other than bright white when looking at my G colored diamond. Mine is a 1.7 carat and it is set in a classic Tiffany-style 6-prong solitaire setting, meaning I can see it from the side and it is white. I wouldn't change from a G and would be happy with the $ saved

Are you sure the stones are graded by a reputable lab? Because at .72ct, you really shouldn't see any difference face up between the two, even if you're color sensitive. Not saying you're not seeing it, just really surprised and wondering about the circumstances and grading labs.

I also have a G in my e-ring, and I can't tell the difference between my G and an F.
But I generally start to see color in "I" graded stones.

Here's an interesting link.

My DH can see the difference between a G and F and wouldn't let me lower to a G for my e-ring and studs.

Would you look at F color but lower the clarity from IF? Have you seen vvs1/2's? Can be v clean if that's your concern

If you've bought an IF diamond, it will be functionally clear with 10x magnification (GIA definition of IF is "No inclusions and only blemishes are visible to a skilled grader using 10× magnification").
If you're asking about whether you might see colour and how white your diamond will be, that's nothing to do with clarity.
If the grading certificate is from GIA or AGS, you should have a colourless diamond if it's DEF.
GHI are referred to as near colourless and people can start to notice a tiny hint of tint around the H/I level.
Colour is graded face down - face up, the reflective facets will tend to return light to your eyes therefore you're less likely to see tint. You may also see tint from the side at this grade. HOWEVER seeing tint isn't the worst thing in the world - it's actually really hard to see unless you're in a white room with the right angle and paused to look closely. It's even harder to see once the stone is set.
I have an EGL H OEC and I have to work hard to see tint from the side. I see white white white from the top down.
Also thankfully, the smaller the diamond, the harder it can be to see any colour.
So I'm guessing that you should be ok. I assume you've checked out GIA F/G/H to be sure you're happy with the side and face up colour before you bought this one?

I have a .70 G and it's white! I can't see any tint to it.

Being "clear" usually refers to clarity. Being "white" has to do with color. Most people would think a "G" excellent cut stone would be pretty white.
Wait until you get the stone. Dont go comparing it side by side with other stones because thats not real life. Just look at it on its own and decide
if its white enough for you.
