Hey Everyone… Firstly, Thank you all so
Much for posting in here, newbies and experts alike… I’m a longtime Pricescoper- but on the “other side,” this world is new to me.

I am now officially on the hunt for a 4.5-5 carat Emerald shape, and intend to work with David at DBL… while pears are gorgeous, they just vary too much and that damn bow-tie .

Here is my question… do you think prices will go down after the holidays? I’m in no rush this is an upgrade and additional ring to my natural diamond ring, and I am wondering if I should start my hunt after December? It just seems like prices will be in accordance to demand… i.e. Christmas, Holiday proposals, gifts, etc.

TIA!

Of course, no one can predict exactly what will happen, but Valentine's Day comes up shortly after, so I wouldn't expect prices to go down, if at all, until after mid-February.

I was going to say, Valentine’s Day is coming. See what you can find in inventory.

I was looking today, and it appears prices have gone up since last week?! I may have to pick this project up again after Valentines Day! I didn't even think about that! Ugh.

HI all!!!
It's become near impossible to use websites to predict price changes.
The market seems flooded with so many sites offering LG diamonds they don't possess- and can't even get their hands on.
So- using different sites to predict isn't reliable.

In general- large lab grown stones have dropped in price quite a bit since last year.
In my opinion, we're getting very close to the bottom price-wise. And, as we compare to natural EM diamonds- and consider the value of jewelry work and customer service..... the amount left for price reduction is pretty much irrelevant.

Thanks for talking us off the ledge @Rockdiamond ... true voice of reason!

Last year IIRC they went up after the new year and came back down at the end of summer. But it is hard to tell because nobody seems to be tracking worldwide prices systematically. Legit wonder why. Maybe vendors don’t want to admit that prices will go down. IMHO that just creates a market for quality cuts and settings but it might discourage people who care about the purported investment value of diamonds. Pinks and antique cuts do not seem to be falling so much although again it is hard to tell. The day someone starts selling violet-grey is the day I go broke.
