Will I be able to see GIA number on diamond once set?

Hi guys, just a quick question.

Will I be able to see the GIA number laser inscription on the diamond once it's been set in a ring? I forgot where the inscription is placed.

I've got a stone that's been in and out of the jeweller's workshop quite a bit (stuff up with ring manufacturing). So I'm worried that they might have misplaced the original diamond.

most jewelers will set it such that you can see the inscriptions. If you can't find it, try using internal reflections to view the girdle areas in places where the prongs cover the diamond.
