God I woke up last night in a cold sweat with this thought and now need answers urgently! Have googled but to no avail. I have sent my natural pale blue topaz to the US (from Oz) to Daniel M to be set but will it return London Blue???? :-o I assume it will be scanned or x-rayed in the post so will that change the colour of the stone? I would be totally devistated if it did. ;(

Any pleeeeeeeeeeeeeease put my mind to rest?

I have literally NEVER heard of this happening, and if it did I'm sure there would be a lot of really p*ssed off gem buyers the world over!

No. The radiation amount is so minimal.

No.

They use radioactive sources to irradiate stones, not x-rays.

Not that some haven't tried it, probably, but we would have heard if it was something used for treatment.

No, don’t worry; x-ray scanners are fine for your untreated blue topaz. It is not considered a treatment method nor will it affect the colour.
