Why is this unheated Burmese Ruby (pigeon blood?) cheap in comparison??

Good question as to why the shop didn't request for origin on GIA report, as it doesn't cost much extra. While a few stones look alright (their sample of "GRS pigeon blood" look rather dark...), I reckon should exercise high level of caution looking at their stuff (especially given error in correlating GRS certificate, intentionally or by mistake), and see if the vendor would go for another certificate from likes of AGL before any ruby purchase. There are really only one or two I think is worth anywhere near asking price under U$10K.

At least their padparadscha inventory looks alright, especially if you are into pinkish orange rather than orangish pink...

Pigeon blood has been thrown out there so much that it doesn't mean much on a lab report. For a truly fine ruby go for the AGL Grading Report. Few vendors will offer it.
