Why is the guidance of HCA scores of less then 1 to be avoided for rings?

Not sure I understand why? Can anyone please explain? Or point me to the explanation? Thank you!

Some combinations with HCA <1 may have extra obstruction when viewed close up, so they're more suited to pendants or earrings which aren't viewed as close as rings. However, the HCA was revamped a few years ago, so it's more on a case-by-case basis whether there would be an issue.

The issue is that when buying online, its hard to determine if there would be a performance issue with extra obstruction.
