Hmmm.... I think I just love anything ''representative''... the way a picture captures a memory and represents that time and place and person. Or a flower represents spring-time and things that are young, growing. Or eating french fries on the beach represents a million past summers of waiting in line on the boardwalk, smelling the ocean.

I think a diamond (and other jewelry) has the potential to represent some of the most significant events of your entire life... getting engaged, having a baby, an anniversary, a just-because present. When I see a diamond ring on somebody''s hand, I appreciate it for it''s beauty... but instantly wonder about the story behind it, too.

On a less-sentimental note, I love love love the clean white crispness of a diamond in a simple platinum/white-gold setting. I especially love the fire and paradoxical ''softness'' of certain shapes, given that it''s really just a chunk of rock!
Yes ... that always makes things interesting ... finding out the stories behind the occasions.

Hi Irina,

Last week we were at an arboretum here in Long Island and they had some of the most exotic plants and flowers. Seeing your pix reminded me of my visit. Wifey and I love walking along the beach now that spring has arrived and we broke it up a bit by going to the arboretum. I had a hard time putting my macro video cam down so I wound up recording around 20 minutes macro and standard high def of some of the most beautiful things.

Good shots and thanks for sharing.

!

Thanks, Rhino. Actually I wish I could delete some of my pictures. But I do not know how to do it now

! Does anybody know if it is possible?
Also, how do you highlight the phrase you are answering to?

And thank you for the information about the Long Island arboretum. I'd love to visit it!

Irina

Thank you! Actually this ring sits in my jewelry box and shows up only on these pictures. I am kind of shy to wear it on public

I just checked to see how many pics I have on my computer of my diamond.... 1090 photos!!!!!!!!!

I can't believe it.

My BF (future fiance!) was joking with me last night about how in the last couple months I had taken my diamond out on picnics, out to the park, and to photo shoots.

All I could do was admit it was the truth!

btw I''ve looked for pics of your stone and you definitely haven''t posted anywhere near 30 so you better get busy.... wait did I read something about how you''re gonna get your ring any day now?? hehehehehehehe

Such beautiful posts, reasons and pics! Love the butterfly ring with the flowers, Irina. Don''t be afraid to wear it.

I love diamonds because they contain all the coulours of the rainbow and I so identify with that specific pleasure mentioned by Lynn of sitting under a tree with the leaves dappling the sunlight and watching its effect on my diamond. I almost missed the bus doing that at the bus stop one time! I also admit to loving that feeling of "I-am-wearing-a-diamond" (though a small one). And the inquiring mind side of me loves researching everything about them. You can find out a lot about history, humanity and the world at large just by reading information about diamonds.

It''s the whole Elizabeth Taylor, Marilyn Monroe thing. And they''re purty.
