Why are French cut bands almost always in platinum?

I’ve been looking off and on for one for a long while. But my preference is yellow gold cause I’m weird about mixing metals. I’ve yet to come across one in the wild in YG. Wondering if I should discontinue my search and start pricing for custom made (which I assume is even more expensive?)

I am no expert in antiques, however, that's my hunch too, based on trawling through the likes of Lang Antiques and auction sites like Christie's.
