Hello all, new to the forums and have been researching and searching for an engagement ring for my gf. I found a tacori ring that I know she will love, and I'm prepared to buy it, however, wanted to see how the price was in terms of a 'good deal'. The ring in question is tacori's ht2326 http://www.michaelcfina.com/engagement-wedding-rings/engagement-rings/tacori-platinum-3-stone-crescent-setting-HT-2326.html#

I'm buying it brand new from an AD, with warranty and everything. He's claiming the price to be below wholesale, and I was just curious what the wholesale price is roughly.

If anyone knows what the wholesale cost is of this ring or what a 'great deal' would be, please let me know! Thank you in advance.

Hello egring and welcome to PS!

Sorry I have no idea about the wholesale price on this, but wow I gotta say that is one nice ring! The detail and intricate work is amazing. The only problem might be to keep it clean, but a little ultrasonic cleaner and some scrubbing should manage things. Nice choice!

Does the jeweler mean that he will send your diamond to Tacori for them to custom make a setting to fit your stone and in the correct ring size? If he is just selling you a sample ring in his showcase, that is a totally different ballgame. I have to say, I am wondering how he manages to stay in business if he is selling below wholesale. That means he is selling for less than his cost. I'd be pretty suspicious of that. I believe Tacori retail prices are on their website. Compare his price to that and see what percentage off it is. I will tell you that two different jewelers told be that the crescent rings are very fragile and can lose little stones. So keep that in mind, too.

Am I reading it right that this setting alone is $13k??? :errrr: That just seems like a lot of money for a setting!! What did he say they would sell it to you for?

In my experience, I've seen the reference cost of many Tacori pieces to be around 2-3k, more in exceptional circumstances but never over 5k (or at least, not that I've seen yet). What's this dealer's price? I'd be really wary of someone who says he is selling you something below wholesale cost. Keep in mind that if you order a Tacori piece, an authorized dealer should be asking you for your stone to ship directly to Tacori, as Tacori strongly dislikes anyone but them working on their rings (including setting the center stone) and in most cases their warranty is void if another jeweler services your piece. In most, if not all cases, Tacori would prefer you not have a case piece and instead build the setting specifically for your stone. My guess is this retailer is taking you for a ride.

that is one 'chunky' setting... do you have your stone?

The one with the center stone seems like a very good deal. :D

I'm sorry but that seems like a ridiculous price if it doesn't include the center stone. Whiteflash carries Tacori now, I would contact them and I quire about pricing and ask the to suggest a beautiful ACA center stone.

HI. Do your homework. That is way overpriced. You could design something and have it made.

Tacoris web site list this setting in platnium for $11,940. So the vendor is NOT selling to you at or below wholesale. I still think is A LOT of money for this setting. Unless the name brand means a lot to you, I would consider having a similar design created for you by master craftsman. I'd contact Steven Kirsch or Victor Canera or ERD.

OP, I would be very leery of a jeweler who tells you that he's selling you something for "below wholesale" when anyone can easily take 2 minutes to go online and see that this isn't true. AT ALL. In fact, he's well above retail on this ring.

Furthermore, I have read really bad reports about Tacori's Crescent line regarding durability issues. Each of the little crescents lining the band is hollow, making it fragile. If the ring is bent in the slightest, there isn't much that can be done to fix it besides sending it off to Tacori each time. I've read that they (Tacori) get to determine what damage looks to be normal wear and tear or flaws in their workmanship and what is negligence... meaning that if they think it's the wearer's fault, then they can choose whether or not they will fix it for free under warranty.

Also, if you have anyone that isn't Tacori touch the ring, it voids any and all warranties on the ring through the company. Don't get me wrong, Tacori makes some beautiful settings, but I would run far far away from this particular one and this jeweler. The setting is extremely overpriced. Unless you plan on spending upwards of $40K+ on a stone, I believe settings costing that much are just too expensive relative to the stone in them. It doesn't look to hold a huge stone. Have a very similar setting made and put spend more on the stone. On down the road, she'll be thankful for a larger center stone. ;)) :halo:

If you still want Tacori, I would not recommend the crescent line (at least not those that are so hollow with the crescents lining the band)... Go through a PS vendor like WF -- they won't screw you over.
