Of course! It's a little acrylic brooch with a small led light on the back that you can switch on and off. I took some day time pics with the light off.

The artist who made it drew each "glass piece" and I believe used a laser cutter type thing to make the brooches.

I bought this vintage earrings featuring "intans" which are old cut diamond skins here in asia at the pawn broker today :D They are about 12mm wide earrings. My mom finds it hard to appreciate lol. But gosh do they warm my heart with their starburst pattern and humble sheen. 18k gold :D

There was another lovely artdecor-ish ring which i saw but didn't purchase. Love it tho and still thinking about it.

If you remember (if anyone can keep up with my jewelry buying antics!) I have been waiting for something from EBay, well it finally got here! A single cut eternity band in 18k in a size 8!!! It is so damn hard to find eternity bands in larger sizes!

This is definitely a keeper but now technically I’m supposed to part with my pawn shop ring, because that was the agreement I made with myself. Buuuuuuut I am going to hoard her for a while ;-)

@YadaYadaYada this is right up my alley! so beautiful!!

@YadaYadaYada hehe these were pieces worn by the Nonya/ Peranakans/ straits chinese back in the day. Usually made with rose cut diamonds and gold, sometimes silver too and ceylon stones.

For abit of history! and to spy on Queen Elizabeth wearing a peranakan brooch

:) ah the stories these pieces could tell

The thrift stores have been disappointing lately. But this week I found a few goodies.
A few pieces of Wedgwood always make me happy. And I found my first one in lilac!
IMG_20210521_082925.jpg

This old plate is fun! Dating to the 1880's. The cup and saucer do not match the plate, but are of the same time period.
IMG_20210521_082658.jpg IMG_20210521_082856.jpg

This sterling pin is 1960s Danish.
It is marked N. E. From

I did some research, and pieces by this maker sell for $$$. I think I did good for fifty cents!
IMG_20210521_080833923.jpg IMG_20210521_080901220.jpg

And here is the exciting piece. Well, to me anyway!
I got this platter in a little thrift store for $2.00
It looked like a photo I'd seen in my English pottery reference book. So I grabbed it.
It turns out to be very early, 1820's! It is called 'feather edge'.

Midcentury Danish silver for $0.50 is wow, but that platter! 200 years old for $2.00! That's just crazy.

It’s amazing to me that something that can break could survive for 200 years! I have seen lilac Wedgwood only once and there was no price but it had the box and all. Great pieces @stracci2000

Are the estate sales up and running or is it really slim pickings out there?

I am amazed that this thing is 200 years old. Just sitting there waiting for me. I am imagining England in 1820, and the person who decorated it, and the people who used it. Fascinating!

And estate sales are going, as well as yard sales. I'm trying to get to them all!

I have a couple of small wedgewood plates I found in an antique store years ago that I put away in a cupboard, I thought they were pretty but they are just sitting in the cupboard, I need to get them out and sell them

Estate sales are starting to come back in my area. I managed to pick up these two Franklin Mint Carousel horses, hand painted on porcelain.

20210522_153057.jpg

There was actually around probably ten of these figures and while I was trying to choose which ones I wanted, a woman came by and started grabbing all of them, saying she was taking them all for her daughter to play with. Luckily, she let me keep the ones I was already looking at (even though I was there first lol). But makes me a little sad that collectibles like these are just ending up as kids toys :( least I saved two of them.

@Rubymal, they are beautiful, what a shame the rest won’t be respected for the collectibles they are. There are a million toys out there for kids to play with, I don’t believe I’ve ever seen a line by the Franklin Mint at a toy store :x2

This has happened to me a couple of times.
Now, when I go to an estate sale, I get a hand basket if they are available. Then I pick up everything I like, including some stuff I'm not sure of. I can always put an item back if I change my mind.
I have had people reach in front of me to grab something that I had my eye on. Never again!

Right! There are so many other toys that kids can play with and break.

There was one that looked to be a unicorn and I had noticed the horn had broken off and pointed it out to the lady, (because I would be disappointed if I ended up buying something damaged because I didn't look carefully enough) but when I told her, she just shrugged and said it didn't matter they're just for her daughter.

That sorta told me she expected them to be handled roughly like toys and her daughter is probably fairly young :[ Such a shame.

That's a good point! I was caught off guard because there were signs saying to still social distance by 6ft and she literally came right up next to me and started grabbing them. I'm pretty sure she did that because she saw me taking the time to look at them carefully.

Those are beautiful
Some of that Franklyn mint stuff is really pretty, its just not worth what it cost to begin with
way too nice to be played with and broken
My sister and i had small locked china cabinets in our rooms for our breakables (we had the keys)

So i felt inspired by you good ladies to poke my head into the hospice shop on the way to the chemist today
i was looking for two small nice crystal/ glass bowls suitable for chocolate mouse as ive lost one somewhere
I found a couple non matched glass ones that will do in the meantime - they may become cat bowls ...

I never see the really nice stuff because they filter it off to their boutique in town

but i did get one really nice crystal glass i thought might be a nice candle holder, a crackle glass tea light holder that matches a vase my great aunty gave me for my 21st, a small cat that matches one i use for a xmas decoration, and a rather garish made in China strawberry that might look nice on the kitchen wall
All up $12.50

I did see a Temuka pottery loaf dish i kind of want but seeing it a bit too marked made me realise im better to buy an 'as new one' on trade me (NZ trade me)

Before the dishwasher ...(well not the cat)

Usual dreadful pic

Saturday was sale day at the local consignment store. Anything with red or white or blue on it was 50% off. These are just a few of my finds. The little dress was made BZ (before zippers) and it is absolutely precious and the workmanship is exquisite. The blue typewriter I bought for $10 for my future daughter-in-law and on my way back to my mother's house I stopped in Laurel, MS and bought the Underwood for $15. By the way, my future daughter-in-law's last name is Underwood. The light wasn't on sale but it was $29.99 and I loved it. IMG_1081.jpg IMG_1085.jpg IMG_1086.jpg IMG_1081.jpg IMG_1089.jpg IMG_1093.jpg IMG_1088.jpg IMG_1087.jpg The poster is signed by Eric Carle and is in my office, since I DO work for a school district. I got more goodies, but these were the really good finds.

As for the dogs....they had to wait till I got everything unloaded. They're sooooo patient.

I‘ve rediscovered silver jewellery lately. Found this lapis lazuli silver ring in a secondhand shop together with these faux pearl earclips today. Perfect for summer feeling! EBDA0E7E-C5F7-4B31-BB64-3A1D1F2A19AB.jpeg 60E372DA-47C3-416D-B970-E35635B5E7F4.jpeg 87949593-FBB1-4F7E-8083-657A371A385F.jpeg

A beautiful ring!!
I really love sterling silver jewelry.
I have a vast collection gleaned from thrift shops and yard sales.
Lucky for me, most sellers don't even look for stamps on silver, and many times it is just lumped together with costume jewelry.

Two finds from last weekend. The green glass piece has a Murano sticker on the bottom. Could the bowl be flow blue? I C9D6471E-8FE1-4DD3-A54C-D77F3E5B015B.jpeg t’s been so long since I found any, I can’t tell if it is, or if it isn’t. 18773482-F4BF-4248-86BD-61E02767C191.jpeg

Yes, flow blue! But honey, you KNOW we must see the mark on the back!!!

A few new finds....
A pretty flow blue dish. I put info on the back of some items, because I tend to forget the details. IMG_20210618_164156672.jpg IMG_20210618_164238887.jpg
And some sterling.
The round thing is a wine bottle coaster. IMG_20210618_164602672.jpg
And these 12" plates are Japanese export ware. They date to about 1900.

Ok, here’s where it gets a little….strange. To me, anyway. Maybe what you’d call a “newer” piece??? Ideas??? 4CF7C07C-1912-49F9-87C0-7720AD2B85B9.jpeg 15C824D9-AD24-46F6-9C65-A881106FBDC8.jpeg

No, it's quite old!
Check out this resource. It's the 18th photo down
"Real Ironstone China"
Adams 1879-1900 or so!
A great find! I would've snagged that one, too!
