So, helping my son find and buy an engagement ring secretly without letting his GF find out has reached the next step. He decided on a diamond and a setting (see below). Just FYI - WF has no settings he likes in his price range, and the setting he picked is one his GF pinned on pinterest so he knows she will like it. However, now we aren't sure who to have set the diamond. He is under a time crunch. Needs the ring back by Sept. 16th at the latest. Do we send the diamond (which is in his possession) back to WF and have the setting made and sent to them for them to set (voids ability to return the setting if he doesn't like it), or do we send the diamond to the place making the setting and have them set it (they do take responsibility for the diamond during the setting process against chips, but scary sending an expensive diamond to someone other than where you bought it for fear of it getting swapped out)?
