I''m not doing this but I imagine that you would pack it up. You could make your own paper cones and put the petals in there. I think I rememer someone on ps doing that.

I think most people do paper cones with the petals in there. I''ve also seen the attendants hand out handfuls of flower petals after the ceremony, but I think the cones worked much better.

I''ve seen paper cones and baskets placed around for people to grab a handful of petals.

Personally I liked the cones because I was able to slip the ribbon around my wrist and keep my hands free to browse the programs

I will be having petal throwing instead of bubbles and rice. I think I going to put them into a small piece of tulle or something with a bow & a tag.

I would love rose petals instead of bird seed......

AAAAANYWAY, i''ve seen both, too. at my friend''s wedding, she arranged it so that, when she and her husband left the church, they went to a side room to grab a minute of alone time before having to do formal pix, etc. while they were doing this, everyone else filed out of the church, grabbed a handful of rose petals from an usher with a basket by the doors, then the couple came out of the church. i liked that a heckuva lot better than having to keep up with the petals throughout the ceremony! i''ve even seen a wedding where there were baskets of petals attached to the end of the pew, so you could grab them on your way out.

I did rose petals in cones. To save time and effort, I used paper doilies to make the cones (since they were already circles!). My bridesmaids gave them out as people exited the church.

I almost didn''t do it becasue I was tired of crafts, but I''m so glad I did it - it was really fun!

I can''t do any of this sort of thing. Not allowed in Yosemite!

I''ve been at weddings with (and helped fill) the paper cones...but two of my friends have actually had two people by the door hold those wicker laundry baskets full of petals and guests can grab a handful. Strangely enough I think it works better, because the cones are a little flimsy and it takes less work. I probably wouldn''t do this with red petals though (just white, pink, and yellow) since the reds can stain.

I just went to a wedding with rose petals. They put them in cones with their names and the date printed on them and gave them out with the programs. They then stopped halfway down the aisle and kissed and that''s when we threw the petals.

I agree with Elmorton....we had each of our BMs hold a white basket filled with rose petals, then the guests just grabbed a handful as they walked out of the church doors. I think it worked really well! The guests seemed to like the rose petals because they weren''t as messy as bubbles can be. Plus they show up really pretty in pictures!

Here is a picture of 2 of my BMs holding the decorated baskets:

And here is a non-pro shot of how the rose petals look in pictures!

Crap that was really small....let me try a different one!

I will be having a rose petal throw but I''m not sure how I will be packaging them up yet. I really like the idea of the bridesmaid''s holding the basket full of petals so that guests can take a handful ... Seems to be easier to me.

I''ve only ever seen it with the cones though ...

Can anyone think of any drawbacks to either option?

LauraSLP07 - Love those pics. You''re right ... the roses do look fantastic!

I''m glad you like my pictures Sparkalicious!

If I didn''t have to resize them, you would be able to see more detail and color from the petals....oh well!

Note: To other brides who do a rose petal toss....try to keep your eyes open and don''t use your bouquet to block the flying petals from hitting your face. I was cracking up laughing the entire time and only got a few pictures where my eyes were open! Just something to keep in mind!

From a guest point of view I would definitely prefer to grab a handful after the service. The paper cones are annoying to hold on to during the ceremony. And then when it came time to throw the petals I was really worried that i''d let the cone slip out of my hand and bean the bride on the head!

So I vote for the grab a handful.
