I inquired. Looked like it might be a great stone. But I'm second in line. So 'fess up! Who got it?

A fine looking colour but it''s going to be teeny tiny. I expect a finished carat weight of around 0.5 ct.

Maybe we can hope for .75cts?

Good news for you! I had inquired earlier today, but based on the final measurements, I don't want to deal with custom work. So, I told him to offer it to you! Hopefully you'll be getting an email soon :)

It is SO pretty!!! I think it ended up being ~.80ct.

0.8ct sounds like a decent size. What do you mean custom work based on the measurement? What shape and size is it?

Do you think he would care if I posted it early?

I think the measurements were roughly 4x8mm.

I don''t think he would mind, but you could ask to make sure. Tell him Liz wants to see it.

He said he was going to post the new stone once he decided what he''s cutting next. In the meantime, I can ask him.

It really is pretty. It is similar to the green tourmaline currently posted. Just smaller. And more blue. ;-)

WHAT?! You passed?! Are you SERIOUS? What are the measurements? Dare I ask price? I haven''t heard from him yet. But I''m DYING to see the end result. I haven''t even seen a picture yet. What''s the color like? And when did you email? I freaking emailed him from my phone in the bathroom (!) this morning. I check that site often from my phone and saw it and shot off an email hoping to be early.

Ahh! So many questions! :)

~4 x ~8mm. It is .80ct.

The picture is very pretty. I wanted to make a necklace out of it.

The color is almost exactly what the rough looks like, but clear [if that makes ANY sense...]

I sent him an email around midnight last night...I always check while I''m getting ready for bed.

And...I totally suck. Dan *just* emailed me and I guess someone sent him an email RIGHT before you and said he would take it if I didn''t want it.

Dan said he has more rough that is similar, but is much more expensive. That stone sure did go fast...

Karee - you aren''t a "he" are you? Dan referenced that "if he doesn''t buy it. . . " I wonder if I''m really second?

Dang it. I KNEW it! I had a feeling that was the case. Bummer. I did inquire about more rough. No reply yet though.

"The other stones I have of this color type are actual Paraiba tourmalines, and would be about four times the price. They are also smaller and longer, skinnier stones."

Bummer - don''t want skinnier. Would prefer a square.

Oh well didn''t need to spend the money anyways. :)

It''s really hard to find paraiba rough in wide enough stones for squares, and if you do cut a cushion or a square, you tend to lose more weight. It''s really difficult to be picky about cut when it''s a good color in a stone. In any case, it''s a pretty stone, and it''s nice to see Dan posting more rare gems lately.

There''s a link to them on Barry''s site...they carry different pendant settings, and chains, and maybe rings [but I''ve only looked at the pendants]...

It was really, really hard to let go. I am in love with the color. If it were bigger....I probably would have taken it, custom or not! :)

Well, the hubby helped rationalize the choice. Since I am leaving for the Netherlands soon [2 weeks from today!!] we decided that the $100 might be better spent on traveling there or getting something cool over there.

Sigh.

It''s so pretty, it looks like the water in some parts of Hawaii...

He is not wrong on that front, I must agree. As much as I love sparkly rocks, I save first to travel and experience and make memories. Are you crazy excited??

Yeah, but I will miss him and my kitties. I''m only going for 2 months though. Last time I left for awhile, I was in Japan for 3 months. So, this is a whole month shorter!

But yes, super excited [but I just found out that there''s no Mexican food there!

Karee ~ Are you going for work or pleasure?

I had asked Dan if maybe I was up next. He replied that you were looking for a Tripp setting and might take the stone anyways. How I wish I was second and not third. DANG IT!
