Ohhh... maybe that''s what she meant then? I showed her them some WF images and they said that the quote was much cheaper because they were done by CAD wheras thiers are handmade, i presume they were referring to the setting of the pave then.........
No, that statement sounds like they are claiming the whole thing was made by hand. I''m not gonna call them liars. I assume they know what goes on at their bench! And I''m not an appraiser... but I might ask the appraisers on here if they can give you clue of their opinon on handmade versus CAD and cast.
i found a really informative article on it somewhere here... it basically concluded tha CAD is more precise but handmade can stand the test of time (most of the time) and handmade is more expensive and takes longer....

A ring like that done properly would cost around $3k I would imagine. Does that affect your decision? A while ago you were thinking of putting more into your diamond and less into the setting.

Can''t judge price without knowing the specs of the diamond as well as the setting. Me personally, I would not buy an already assembled ring because I would want to first choose the perfect diamond and then choose the setting.

What happened to buying the diamond and worrying about the setting later

;-) i know I know, but i''m finding increasingly, that many places only create a setting for you, if you buy the diamond from them. I am going to explore some high end stores today to see whether they *require* you to have to buy the diamond from them, because honestly, i''d rather buy a diamond from WF or GOG and then maybe get the setting made in London somehow...but some vendors have actually refused to work with me if i don''t buy the diamond from them..so i would rather find someone who has great custom pave work and great diamonds. I am so tempted to just go with Leon!!!!!

Then you need to talk to Leon and send him the photo. The style of the setting might determine whether or not he thinks you and he are a fit. His rings usually have a certain basket style which you''ll see repeated on his website.
