PS'ers,
I was hoping someone could help me understand the rationale behind Whiteflash's Virtual Selection policy, which requires full payment before providing pictures and an ASET of a diamond of interest.
I understand that Whiteflash is regarded highly, but I hesitate to throw down the entire cost of the diamond simply to receive some pics.
Is this policy normal? For example, does GOG charge its customers the full price of the diamonds they bring in to create the videos? What about other vendors?
Here's the diamond I'm interested in viewing: http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/emerald-cut-loose-diamond-2961542.htm
An excerpt from Whiteflash's website explaining the policy can be found at this link (http://www.whiteflash.com/about-diamonds/whiteflash-policies/other-diamonds.htm) and is also pasted below:
...If you decide to have us bring the diamond in you will be sent an order confirmation for the diamond. Shipping, insurance and our comprehensive gemological review and performance image package are provided at no cost to you! Upon receipt of your payment we will have the manufacturer ship the diamond to Whiteflash where it will undergo careful review by Whiteflash gemologists. Should any problems be discovered with the diamond such as chips or scratches, or anything inconsistent with the lab certificate, you will be advised. Upon passing inspection the diamond will be sent to our photography department for actual photographs and light performance imaging including ASET and IdealScope. Your diamond consultant will then forward you all the results of our analysis for your approval. If for any reason you decide not to proceed with the purchase, 100% of your payment will be refunded within two business days. (You may also elect to use your payment towards another diamond, if you should choose to do so).
Thanks so much in advance!
