Hi, I was hoping I can get some feedback as to what everyone thinks of this diamond. It's a whiteflash virtual selection D color 1ct VVS1 emerald cut diamond with a depth of 62 and a table% of 63. The ratio is 1.36.

Here are the images sent to me by whiteflash. What do you think? This is going to be the center emerald cut in a 3 stone emerald cut ring with two half carat emerald cut stones one on each side.

This chart helps for reference. It’s not perfect, but it can be useful to try to compare your ASET with some other examples:

I have to ask: why are you selecting such high grade color & clarity? Is this just preference or cultural? You can likely score a larger, excellent cut EC with F/G color and VS-VVS clarity for around the same budget range.
Just curious.

Well I already have the two smaller side emerald cut stones and they're D color so I think my concern is I wanted to make sure the center diamond would match. Thanks for the reference chart!

Understood! Happy to help! It’s a beautiful EC! Is your cut off 1ct, or would you be open to going slightly bigger with a D color, VS (eye clean) EC?
Do the proportions have special meaning (.50, 1.0, 0.50)?

You'd be fine with stones within down to a GIA F if the sides are GIA D. Certainly an E. DEF are all very close to most eyes as the range is quite narrow for each.

Can u tell a D vs F if they are side by side? Most people cannot but if you are one of those that can, i think staying with D or minimum E is safer.

Maybe it's all in my head but yeah I feel like I can see the difference between a D and an E so thanks maybe best to stick with a D.

Overall, what does everyone think about the performance of this diamond, based on the images? Should I keep looking?

Thanks!

I wouldn’t eliminate it, just yet. I* would like to see it in motion. Do you have a video you can post?
If not, can you request one?
Static images are helpful, but you need to see how the steps move/light up to know if it’s the right EC for you.
The ASET is good. Video should confirm its performance.

Ok thanks, I'll request a video!

Just to give you perspective.
I realize everyone sees things, differently, and you have compared D to E color, against each other.
However, when your intended is wearing the diamond, alone, there will not be another stone against it.
This is my 1.07ct GSI2 EC.
Any tint you may see is not from the diamond, itself, but from the surroundings; EC’s pick up everything in their environment.
I’ve examined her against a D EC, and could not see a difference.

OP mentioned he’s looking for a centre stone for a 3 stone ring and the two side stones are D color so there is always a comparative I guess.

I can’t tell D and E apart (thank goodness!!!) but I know someone who says he can and it pained him to buy an E color diamond. So yeah OP could be really one of the unfortunate sensitive minority.

In this aspect I always feel like ignorance is bliss (and maybe so is poor eyesight lol).

Duh!! How foolish do I feel? Totally forgot this is a 3 stone!!
Never mind, OP!! Stick with the D!
