Hey all, on Whiteflash is the difference between the "A Cut Above" diamonds and the other diamonds truely noticeable? If so, are they worth the price you pay for one (looks to be roughy 1G more than price stats Avg.)? Also, I noticed that the "A Cut Above" diamonds are all AGS reported, however they are not GIA. Does this mean they do not have a certificate or what is the deal here? I just want to make sure they are legit and all... Thanks!

Brian is known for cutting beautiful ACA stones, and everyone here seems to love theirs. ACA is a brand that associates a level of cut quality with it. It doesn't mean that you can't match that quality with an unbranded H&A stone. You just would have to find one and evaluate it compared to the ACA or any other H&A brands. So...only you can decide if the brand is worth the premium to you. It's not something unique that you can't find anywhere else, but is known for being well done.

good luck!

About the AGS certs... They are as good as GIA on what GIA does, but also provide a grade on cut (AGS0 being the top cut grade). SInce ACA are stones selected for cut precision, AGS makes sense for them.

The Q is a hard one, since it is generals. Some of the stones in the 'expert selecetion', as far as I remember, seem to respect the H&A rules and just about any other criteria one could think of. If Whiteflasd fealt that these were not good enough to join the ACA crowd - well, this is probably for reasons different than your buing criteria. Those parameters are meant to make a difference, and obviously, sometimes it is a close cut

It does take some getting used with these stones to appreciate the effect of small details, and surely wether the fine print makes sense it is up to you.

"Mara" got such a 'close by' stone... you may want to read her posts on 'Show Me the Ring" and can PM her for a hands-on impression.

It would be much easier, and conclusive, to talk about a certain stone...

Awesome. I just checked out the post, thanks for the heads up! Just affirmed sort of what I was figuring out. I'm excited to do this, now just to find the right one...
