Hi everyone! Been reading pricescope for a while now and it''s helped me in choosing the center stone for the ring I''m in the process of getting custom made. Now my dilemma is that I thought I had my heart set on having the setting made in 14 k wg. I thought this would help with the durability of the pave setting and It will match a lot of my other favorite wg jewelries. But lately since I put in this custom order (still waiting on the wax impression) I''ve been wearing my yg jewelries again and I''ve been having second thoughts on the wg e ring. I have pictures of them. I have pictures and I''d love to hear your thoughts on this.

I think they''re both beautiful. Look in your jewelry box--what metal do you own the most of? what looks best on your skin? Go to a jewelry store and try on both colors--make sure they''re rings similar to the one you are having made. Whatever metal you choose will be fine....because that ring is a knockout in either.

Both are beautiful, it just depends on personal preference.

White metals are more popular right now, but yellow gold is classic and seems to be coming back around again...

To be honest, I would say yellow gold looks a bit better on me. I think rose gold is even prettier, and looks even better on me, however for something I am wearing everyday...again, white works better over yellow or rose. The reason for white gold for me though is also partially due to my use of a blue sapphire as a centre stone and diamonds as sidestones, it just seems to look better with wg than yg or rg to ME.

I actually own more yellow gold than white, but that is because I am NOT a big jewelery wearer and so....most of my jewelery was purchased by others when I was a lot younger and given to me as gifts. Yellow gold was more popular back then! I don't really wear much of it....

If I was going yellow gold though, I would probably go 18K instead of 14K, and perhaps with a platinum head (so you would have some yellow AND some white metal - compromise?!). 18K yg has a nicer colouring in my opinion.

Deeply personal, I think: it depends on everything from your skin tone to your personal aesthetic.

I wear both, but I went with white metals for my wedding set because I thought it was most suitable to the time period of the style I loved (Art Deco-y fishtail settings are pretty much nonexistant in YG)(well, that and because I just fell in love with my setting when I saw it). Given the popularity of WG today, I''d say go white, and just resign yourself to mixing metals occasionally. If the Europeans don''t mind about being matchy, I don''t see why we should!

Although Ilove pave in yg, I too think white metals are more versatile. But only you can decide really!

To be honest, I prefer white gold for this particular setting. I just think the white gold goes better with the antique feel of the ring. Recently I have seen some solitaires and 3 stone rings on PS set in yg that look absolutely gorgeous...but for this particular style, I think the white gold is more pleasing. But this is just my opinion, if you really like the yellow gold then go for it!

You''ve chosen a beautiful ring. I understand your dilemna. Last year, I reset my rings for my 20th anni. After 22 years of wearing a solitaire in yg, I went with a wg split shank design. I Love It. Yet, I sometime miss my yg ring, too. I''ll eventually put another stone in the original to deal with that.

As for what you should do, as others have said, it depends on you, what you like, what you wear most. Like you, I have plenty of yg, given for gifts, chosen by me, etc. I mix white and yellow metals all the time, using a two tone watch and/or bracelet as my bridge between the two, so whatever you choose, please don''t feel like you''ve boxed yourself into a white or yellow corner.

Specific to your ring: I love the antiquey feel of the wg. I love the contrast btw the yg and the side diamonds. Does one of those ideas, or another, stand out to you? That may be what helps you make a final choice.

Best of luck, congratulation, and enjoy that ring, whichever you choose!

Beautiful ring. Like everyone has said - which color gold do you wear the most often? I like them both but the yg really make the diamonds pop.

I know right?! I love the way the paves pop on the yg ring. And I love it that it looks more renaissance and unique to me. But I have a lot more white gold jewelries than yellow...If I go with the yellow gold, you guys are right..I''d definitely get it in 18K...but then I''m worried it''ll be softer and there goes all those paves falling out of it. Ahhhh what to choose! I love both of them! If I could only have one of each! hahaha And both looks good on my skin too. Also with all my clothes and with all my purses (half with white metal and half with yellow). I guess I can''t go wrong with either one. I did think about getting those yellow gold bangles from the middle east with diamond cut white gold on them...that''ll blend my white and gold jewelries but I don''t think the overall effect is the same (compared to having all whites or all yellow).
Thank you guys for your input..I think I''ll go with the white. My white jewelries are more up to date. My yellows are from way back...and if I get this ring in YG, I''d have to start an updated yellow collection..and that''s definitely gonna be an expensive hobby. And watch once I''ve collected a considerable amount of yellows...yellow will be out again and white will rule. Then I''d have to update my whites! Jewelry is definitely an expensive hobby/collection.
So..again =) I think I''ll stick with white. I have a couple of other diamonds that I don''t like it''s setting anymore...maybe I''ll change their settings to an updated yellow gold to match the rest of my yellow gold collection. Thank u guys! Appreciate your input much!

Anna

I too like the way the pave pops in the YG. I wear a watch and a braclet that are mixed golds (mostly white tone with yellow trim) so I actually mix
my golds. My ering is plat and my earings and pendant are in yellow gold. I dont think it offends anyones sences but I could be wrong. I am looking
to have a new ring or pendant made and will probably have them dont in white gold.

I love the wg... good luck with your choice Hun!
