White Gold and Platinum hybrid bands

I am hoping someone out there can help me with a question that my jewler was doing everything she could to avoid answering. Both my fiancee and I are shopping for wedding bands. Her e-ring is platinum. We found a wedding band that is a combination of platinum and 18K White Gold. The center of the band is Platinum and the edges are WG...this ring was designed that way so the WG would shine a bit more and give the ring some contrast.
My question is this...with all the threads about WG wearing off and turning yellow, etc. Do you think that the differing metals of this band will wear differently and in a few years, this band may look bad because the platinum will be dull and the WG may lose luster and turn yellow?
