Has anyone heard of white fluor? I''ve heard of blue, yellow and green, but not white. I am looking at a round stone that is SI/F with medium white. Would med. white be okay?
I am also looking at an I color with med. blue fluor. On one hand I know the I will benefit from the blue fluor. But I am also intrigued by the white fluor. I''m hoping more people will respond to my question. Thanks.
The only way I can think of white fluorescence happening is if the stone fluoresced in red, green, and blue. Or blue fluoro plus yellow (since yellow is a mix of red and green). That would be weird if a diamond emitted white light when excited by UV light (but I suppose it might be possible).
I have seen pink and orange, yellow and white. Of course blue is the usual. But the PINK fluorescence was the most interesting to me...also only saw that once. Other than that white is the second most common I have seen, followed by yellow then orange.
Med White is the SAME as Medium blue really. Again it''s only in the UV light that they have any effect. and the colored fluorescence was not detected in daylight as the color, only in the UV light.
From what I have noticed white FL should be more than fine, no difference. Being an F, with medium FL it should have a deeper discount I assume.
Gothgirl - Is the white fluor stone you are looking at discounted in price for the fluor color? Just wondering, because I saw a diamond with yellow fluor listed on the cert for sale on Blue Nile a while back and it was priced significantly less than a similar stone without the yellow fluor. I remember thinking that this would be a great buy for a pendant stone, if you wanted the size, but weren''t picky about it being absolutely colorless.
If the price is right, it might be worth bringing in for a look.
