Which vendor to work with on a virtual inventory stone

Hi Folks,

I want to know more about a certain promising looking stone that is a warm color, so while it is listed by 6 different vendors in the price comparison, none of them are the most respected vendors that offer upgrade policies. While I don''t plan to upgrade, I like to have it as an option. I also want 25 days or more to return. I know any vendor can get access to the stone, but if I pick the vendor first and then ask them to look at the stone for me is it going to cost a lot more than just picking the cheapest vendor in price comparison? Since it is a 2+ct warm SI1, I would value an expert''s eyes on it. What is the premium usually placed on a diamond so that they can offer personal inspection, idealscope images, an upgrade policy and 30 day returns vs one that doesn''t? Which vendors offer an upgrade policy that doesn''t require you to spend twice as much? Thank you everyone for for reading...thank you again for advising!

Here is some info I collected on upgrades...

Diamond Scassi - full upgradable
James Allen - 2X
Brian Gavin - full upgradable on Brian signature diamonds (saw in another location
that they were ALL upgradable so not sure on the rest of them)
Goodoldgold - full upgradable on H&A (look for lifetime guarantee)
Blue Nile - none
Whiteflash - full upgradable on ACA and ES selections

Dont have the return policy on any of the stores. Hope this helps some.

I don''t know of any vendors that offer a 25 day return policy on memo stones and are willing to provide all the services you''re asking for.
You''d need to call them up yourself and find out.

When I had a stone called in by WF, they provided an in-house check, idealscope and i believe 10 day return policy? (don''t quote me), but they also charged me 100 for calling it in which they deduct if you purchase it. If not, you''re out.

Dimend Scaasi thinks that the diamond is owned by a vendor they don''t work with. Hmm. They were however helpful in getting me a very reasonable quote for a Sholdt setting I like that they don''t carry, they even said they would break their no selling settings alone rule for me.

There’s quite a few Independent Appraisers who are prepared to offer you those services on any stone you like and it shouldn’t be hard to stay within most of the dealers return policies if you decide against purchase. On a 2 carat stone the appraisers fees are likely to be a small percentage of the cost of the stone.

ERD is not typically known for rounds but they have access to virtual stones and provide life time upgrade at 40% more than purchase price.
