I'm looking at a smaller diamond around .5 caratr, and have pretty much narrowed my choices down to 4 diamonds. The problem I don't know which is better. Here is the info the diamonds.

#1 #2 #3 #4

The Ring is platinum with a shallow "part rub over" (wrap) setting. I'm looking for quality and beauty, I'm not too informed on all this, so I was hoping you could help.

Thanks

Oh, and I'm inn Germany now, so I won't be able to see any of these

All could be lovely, and you probably wouldn''t go wrong with any.

With no more information, I might go with #3.

If you see alternatives elsewhere, suggesting to you that you mind neither blue florescence nor H vs E, my order might change to: #4, then #1, then #3, and finally #2. The sorting is not strong.

I like the HCA score for #4 (.7 and 4 ex)
I like the HCA score second best for #1 with 1.4, 3 EX, and a vg
For #3, 1.4 HCA also good with 1.4 3 VG & an EX -- though for some reason, the system''s author finds this difference insignificant, and without your judging either Flor or the lower color a problem, it remains, while unseen, a sweet spot
#2 has an HCA score of 2...4 VG

I like number 4, put if you post some pics, I might choose another one.

Something over half a carat, G/VS2 sounds like a better deal to me...

Perhaps THIS ? I don't think these high color grades will be any different given the size and cut quality of these stones. Between VS1 and VS2... not much left to say either.

Unless "VVS" means something to you beyond the look of stone to which it makes no difference.

I am curious about the setting - how does it look ? "Rub Over" sounds like some sort of bezel...

... but that is not the usual name. Is there a sample anywhere online ?

Best of luck!

Here is the site to view the pictures of the diamonds as well as the ring setting. Sorry I would have put it on here but the uploads wouldn''t work right. http://photos.yahoo.com/cannapolous

Thanks for the info and opinions

Mike

Valeria. I really like that setting. Is that your ring? If so... where did you get it? If not... where did you see it? Thanks.

they all look lovely from the images, not too much help i know...

i think for me i would nix the two 41 pav angle stones and stick with the ones that are lower...the 40.7 maybe. it''s hard to see the numbers the way you posted that chart, can you repost so all the numbers for each stone are together? i can''t tell which crown angle belongs to the 40.7 pav angle.

oh and i would not overpay for VVS clarity....I agree with what ana noted about maybe a G VS or even a G SI...you could get a bigger stone for same $$. but that''s just my small two cents.

Thanks for posting the pictures, I couldn''t get them to work for me. The ring is from and an australia site, but i was going to have it custom made, I will try to get the site for you in the next week. I didn''t want to deal with the import taxes and such, but my plan are still a little in the air.

Thanks again

Mike

Just fyi...from my home, the chart is clear as a...belle. But at the office, they appear as a mess. I think it all depends on the size/resolution of settings on your monitor...

i was going to have (the ring) custom made
Why not ask the seller of the diamond to make the setting ? This would save you the worries about the stone getting damamged during setting by some other firm... Also, if a designer setting happens to be just right ( "designer" = either a known label or a semifinished model available by catalog order to jewelers but not to you) thisngs are even easier - the seller of the stone only has to set the ring, not make it. They might have more optiona available than I know of...

Speaking of designers... the setting below comes from "Jewelsmith"

looks very close and so elegant... I just had to post it !

yes as Ira noted...I had the same issue, at work the chart was all screwy with numbers everywhere, but here at home it looks fine...

I like #4 the best probably but they all kind of have elements I don''t really LOVE...aka I would stay around 40.7 or 40.8 for pav angle but a corresponding crown of around 34.5-34.8...table from 54-56 and depth from 60.2-60.9 but those are my super strict standards....I bet any of these would be lovely in person, away from the #''s. The IS''s images are all beautiful.
