I''d love some imput. I have about $600 to spend on stud earrings.

I can get .50 tcw studs from ID jewelry or I can get the .50tcw preset halo studs from Brian Gavin Diamonds.

Neither are H&A diamonds and both are around the same color & clarity. I''m leaning toward the studs from ID jewelry, but I haven''t made my final decision.

Is it better to have a .25ct diamond stud in each ear or to have a halo stud that is .25ct but kind of looks like .50ct in each ear?

Please help me decide.

I''d go with the preset Halo studs.

I''d get the halos, I think they are a great deal and will have a ton of ear presence!

Personally, I''d rather have the ID studs. Bigger isn''t always better IMO, and the studs are classic. The halos are pretty, but too big and busy for my taste.

Wow thanks for such a quick response, luvmyhalo, Bella_Mezzo and Karpouzi.

2 for halos, 1 for solitaires.

I tend to agree.
Depends on your taste? minimalist or are you after an appearance of bigger bling? I'd just double check to make sure ID jeweler's studs have superb cut as I know BGD's tiniest melees still have superb cutting

Thanks for the question DT.

If I could afford it I would buy 1 ctw studs and have a .50ct diamond in each ear.

I'm upgrading from .15 in each ear. So I'm trying to decide if I should stick with the single diamond eventhough it has a smaller look than the halos. The halo's look similar in size to a .50 diamond.

2 for halos, 2 for solitaires

If there''s any chance that in the nearish future you''ll get those 1ctw studs you really want, I''d go for the BGD halos, just because once you have the bigger studs smaller studs are unlikely to get much wear, but a different style still will.

I would get the ID studs!!!!!!!

For sure. I have both halo studs and plain studs - I definitely wear the plain studs more!!!

There''s nothing like a single diamond sparkling on your ear. Very pretty!

The halo studs are pretty, too. But for the size you''re looking at, I''d definitely get the bigger stones.

I''d go with the halos, I was literally just oggling them not 10 minutes ago.

And ditto to BGD being superb cuts.

Yssie - great point about different styles.

Bliss - I agree about the single diamond in each ear.

Luvmyhalo - great idea and thanks for the link! I will really have to consider that.

Somethingshiny - BG diamonds are hard to beat when it comes to cut.

4 for halo, 4 for solitaires

I`d go for ID studs! I think studs are just so classic and beautiful, and much more wearable on a daily basis than halos. Plus they`d be more matchy with your e-ring, which is by the way gorgeous!!

The .25 per ear sounds more appealing. Halos are just meh to me. They create the illusion of being bigger.

For me definatley studs. I wear my studs every day, you can always halo them later with some jackets.
I wouldnt wear halo studs everyday, a bit more fussy for everyday wear. If you have a return policy I would get the ID studs, have a look and go from there.

good luck

Thanks chiquitapet, tyty333, MC and D2B for weighing in on my dilema.

And thanks for the compliment chiquitapet. I think your e-ring is lovely.

4 for halos, 7 for solitaire studs.

I think the solitaire studs may win out. I'll definitely post pics of which earrings I end up buying.

I ditto Yssie. That is a great long-term plan. Although, I wouldn''t only go with the halos to make the diamonds appear bigger. I love the look of halos, but I don''t think they make the diamonds look bigger, just the whole piece. I think people are able to tell the difference between one big diamond and one diamond with tiny diamonds surrounding it

Thanks sparkels&glitter!

Thanks for the link, Kay! I think I would do a bezel set solitaire stud. I love bezels.

EHR2009 - One of my concerns with the BGD halos is that people will be able to tell that it's .15 diamond with a halo instead of a .50 diamond even though the preset halos are the same size as a .50 diamond. Thanks for reminding me of that.

5 for halos, 10 for solitaires

+1 for IDJ

Hi Seattle, it definitely is a personal preference here. I own the BGD halo studs. I''ll attach the link below. I love them! I like a large earring presence though, which is why I got them. If I could have afforded 1 carat total weight studs, I would have bought those but they weren''t in my budget. For me, I preferred the halo studs because I currently own a pair of studs that are .5cttw and I wanted a bigger look. They''ll both be really beautiful, I am sure. I will tell you the BGD ones are super sparkly! Here they are linky

What about getting two .30ct diamonds tha tare upgradable? If you went J SI1 it would be really close to budget!

Thanks haagen dazs, lizzyann01 and dreamer.

Lizzyann01 - I''ve looked at your pictures so many times trying to decide. Thanks for your additional comments. Which set do you wear the most, the solitaires or the halos?

Dreamer - where do you see the .60 ctw studs? I would be just fine with j si1 stones. It they are around $600 and upgradable that would be my ideal choice.

Well I was thinking you could get two like this:
http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/diamond/diamond-detail/?product_id=AGS-10278605

And set them like this:
http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/home/ring-details/?product_id=5386

But I guess it is a little over budget. I have seen J SI2s in their inventory before, or even K Si1s that would bring the budget down. Personally, I would save a couple hundred more and go that route rather than waste money on diamonds you cannot upgrade, if larger studs is you eventual goal.

Thanks Dreamer! I really appreciate the link. I think I''ll email BGD and see what they can do. Upgradable studs are a great idea.

Hi Seattle, I like Dreamers idea of upgradeable studs for you. Lesley at BGD is great to work with! Maybe you could have her send you a pic of the studs and the halo studs next to eachother.

I never wear my .5cttw studs, I just feel like they look so small on me. I wear my halo studs, 8 mm pearl earrings, 8mm sterling ball earrings on a regular basis. I like a big look so that is why. I also thought of getting .6cttw upgradeable studs from BGD but I knew they wouldn''t be much bigger than my .5cttw studs and I didn''t want to pay all that money on earrings I wouldn''t wear in the hopes of upgrading one day. You are in a different situation tho, you are starting from scratch with studs so I like the idea of .6cttw studs for you! But if you do decide to go with a bigger look, I love my halos and I get so many compliments on them!!!! Good luck!!
