Hi everyone,

So SO and I bought a round .81 AGS 0 VS2 J (looks very white) diamond from James Allen, which should come in tomorrow. Now I''d like your opinions on which setting I should get.

I always thought that I wanted a lotus setting, but I''ve been eyeing some antique settings lately, so now I have three choices: lotus setting, filigree antique setting, or antique setting with diamonds. I''m attaching some photos for reference.

Lotus setting:

Is this for an ering or a RHR?

Thanks for your input, february2003bride!

Bella mezzo, This is for an ering. Also, my ring size is 2.5, so I''m not sure if that would make it impossible if not very difficult for the more detailed settings to be sized down that much.

I love the lotus, but I wonder if it might sit the stone a little high for your tiny finger?

I wear a 2.5, too! I think you will have to get any setting made custom in your size. Sizing an existing setting down that much will likely compromise the integrity of the setting, and you could have pave stones popping out all over the place.

I personally really like the lotus setting, and I think it would be a beautiful choice. My center stone in my e-ring is set pretty high, and I don''t find that it gets in my way at all.

The lotus I think - but I would worry that it would be set too high for such small hands..

This is exactly how I feel... I love love the cup on antique #1... antique #2 doesn''t do much for me, nor does it look antique.

Another vote for antique #1. The lots is beautiful but doesn''t seem "stable" enough for an engagement ring. Maybe it''s the high setting. And wow how does one even have fingers that small?

I think the antique setting #1 gets my vote. Then it would be lotus setting as the #2. I can''t wait to see what you finally pick!

Antique #1 all the way! Followed by lotus. Both will be incredibly unique that you wont'' see on many other ladies'' hands. I''ve seen a decent number of lotuses on PS, but never IRL. I''ve never even seen an antique setting like #1 anywhere, and it''s gorgeous, so I am unabashadly in favor of that one :)

I like antique setting number one the best, followed by the lotus. The lotus just looks too high set for my taste, though I do love the design.
